WaterAid Bangladesh (WA) seeks an appropriately qualified candidate for the post of Communications Officer – Media and Outreach for its country programme. The Communications Officer will work closely with advocacy and communications team in its duties towards fulfilling the organisational communication needs.

Specifically, the Communications Officer supports and facilitates the media engagement, outreach and campaigns to enable WASH rights/ services to poor, marginalised and excluded people through innovative targeted communication across diverse audience and channels.

The Communications Officer as a member of the Advocacy and Communications Team provides crucial support to the strategic communications goals of the organisation.

Person Specifications (see detail in the JD):

Education and Experience:

  • Masters/ equivalent degree preferably in Communications, Business Administration, Social Science, Development Studies.
  • At least 03 years’ experience in relevant field. However, for the first-rate professional track record or excellent educational accomplishment, the required years of experience may be relaxed.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing campaigns, communications, media engagement across different programme, project and areas
  • Demonstrable, practical experience of strong communication in development and private sector partnership context.
  • Strong communication skills including oral, written and audio-visual skills including the production of communications materials for different audiences
  • Strong IT and digital capability.
  • Experience in media engagement, large scale multi partner involved communications projects
  • An understanding of WASH, development and target audience from various backgrounds
  • Experience of developing and implementing knowledge management processes and systems

Personal Competencies:

  • Ability to provide effective support and to collaborate and coordinate across different teams from diverse background.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and blisteringly urgent deadlines.
  • Self-driven and ability to work independently or with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organizational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values

Reportable to : Manager, Advocacy and Communications
Work station : Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working hours : Full time (05 days a week with minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Contract tenure : Fixed Term, 01 (one) year with a possibility of extension
Salary & benefits
:

Monthly salary range BDT 56,500-65,000 corresponding to the skill, competencies and experiences; other benefits include provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, life insurance for self, hospitalisation insurance scheme for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc.
