WaterAid (WA) seeks an appropriately qualified candidate for the post of Regional Programme Officer for its South Asia Region. The Regional Programme Officer provides overall support to the South Asia Region in its duties towards its country programmes in the region namely Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Myanmar.

Specifically the South Asia Region (as part of WaterAid’s International Programme Department) supports and facilitates the capacity growth of its country programmes to enable WASH rights/ services to poor, marginalised and excluded people. The South Asia Region also provides assurance of quality programmes across its region and leads regional and relevant international initiatives on WASH.

The Regional Programme Officer as a member of the Regional Team provides crucial support to the South Asia Region in the above.

This post will be based in Dhaka and is open to Bangladeshi or other nationals based in Bangladesh with a valid work permit.

Job purpose

The purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate programme and finance systems for planning; and reporting to contribute to programme effectiveness. S/he will also contribute to promote effective knowledge management and learning for the South Asia region. 

The Regional Programme Officer will have strong working relationships across the regional team, country programmes and IPD’s programme support unit, and coordinate with other WaterAid departments.

Report to : Regional Director-South Asia
Work station : Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working hours : Full time (Monday to Friday - 05 days a week with minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Salary & benefits : Starting monthly gross salary is BDT 171,330 with admissible benefits, altogether total starting package is BDT 212,328.  Higher salary package may be offered to the deserving candidate.

To be successful, you'll need to have:

  • Master’s in a discipline like Business Administration, Economics, Social Science, Development Studies, and Public Health or in relevant field.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing programme and project planning, logframe design, progress monitoring and reporting
  • Demonstrable, practical experience of financial planning, budgeting and monitoring
  • Strong experience of working in the development sector with a sound understanding of human rights based approach.
  • Strong communication skills including oral, written and audio-visual skills including the production of communications materials for different audiences
  • Strong IT and digital capability.
  • Ability to provide effective support and to collaborate and coordinate remotely with multi-cultural teams, with cross cultural sensitivity, diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks
  • Flexible and approachable, yet organised and assertive; able to hold others to account for their tasks.
  • Self-driven and ability to work independently or with minimum supervision
  • Ability to undertake occasional travel in the region and elsewhere
  • Fully committed to WaterAid's vision, mission and values and a way of working that demonstrates this, with the ability to communicate this enthusiasm to others.
