Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an independent foundation of the Swiss Industry for international development co-operation. Swisscontact currently employs over 1,400 staff worldwide and manages 120 projects in 36 countries on behalf of public and private donors.
Swisscontact operates in Bangladesh for more than 50 years with projects mainly in Vocational Training, Labour Market Development and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems.
PRABRIDDHI is a project to foster Local Economic Development in selected Municipalities of Bangladesh, funded by Switzerland and Government of Bangladesh, and co-implemented by Swisscontact and the Local Government Division (LGD).
Context
The Light Engineering sector tends to have clusters of enterprises spread out geographically in different locations across the country. According to a report by BIDA, there are 34 major light engineering clusters in Bangladesh. Major clusters are located in Dhaka, Chattogram, Narayanganj, Bogura, Jashore, Gazipur and Kishorganj.
Objective
The objective of the market study is to understand and identify what are the improved capital machineries that are required for the Light Engineering (LE) enterprises based on the products they manufacture, identify the
sources of improved capital machineries that can be accessed by the LE enterprises. The study will be focused on the LE enterprises in Bogura.

Roles and responsibilities of the Consultant(s) / Organization
- Conduct necessary secondary research and literature review for the market study.
- Develop a field research plan for the market study.
- Share the research plan with PRABRIDDHI for approval.
- Recruit or organize field research team for the study.
- Roll out field team for data collection.
- Develop data entry templates, conduct data entry and analysis.

Contract Duration
Duration of the assignment is 4 months from the date of commencement of the contract.
