SRHR and Menstrual Hygiene Promotion Study |
Introduction
Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP) is a pioneer national
Non-Government Organization focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for around 40
years in Bangladesh. RHSTEP is registered under Social Welfare Registration Act, 1961 with the Department
of Social Welfare (Registration No. DHA-02459, dated 05 August 1990); NGO Affairs Bureau of the
Government of Bangladesh. The vision of RHSTEP is to build a healthy, wealthy, self- reliant Bangladesh,
where every citizen is respectful to and practicing human rights irrespective of their age or social strata.
The Right Here Right Now (RHRN) is a multi-country coalition project implemented in 10 countries across
the world, including Bangladesh, Benin, Burundi, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Tunisia, and
Uganda for the period of 2021 - 2025. The RHRN Bangladesh coalition is being led by BRAC. The project
works to preserve the sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) of young people aged 15-35 and aims to
increase the access, availability of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). Its strategic objective is to
contribute in achieving the SDGs 3, 4, 5, 10, and 16, keeping the youth of Bangladesh at the forefront of all
interventions to promote gender justice.
RHSTEP, under the RHRN2 project, is implementing initiatives to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health
and Rights (SRHR) and menstrual hygiene management (MHM) in four project areas. To strengthen these
efforts, a study titled SRHR and Menstrual Hygiene Promotion Study will be conducted to assess how
health service providers and schools are delivering menstrual hygiene promotional information and
materials.The study aims to identify gaps and recommend strategies to enhance menstrual hygiene
education and services.
