Communication and Advocacy Specialist
(Based at Ukhiya Office, Cox's Bazar)

Plan has been working in Cox Bazar to respond to the Rohingya refugee influx since 24 September 2017 implementing the following key objectives: 1. Ensure girls and boys affected by the crisis are protected from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation through appropriate prevention and response interventions in line with minimum standards. 2. Reduce the transmission of disease from fees to mouth through the promotion of good hygiene practice and the reduction of health risks related to poor sanitation 3. Restore and increase access to safe quality and inclusive educational opportunities for refugee children and adolescents (girls and boys) affected by the Rohingya crisis.

The role:

Plan International Bangladesh is looking for a committed and passionate person who fits in the role of Communication & Advocacy Specialist. The scope includes;

  • Lead collaborative and adaptive approaches to developing new yet effective communication tools.
  • Generate content and visibility materials for project
  • Monitor adherence to communication guidelines (such as logo, colors, templates, language etc.) and keep track of progress of communication strategy and action plan implementation.
  • Identify, prioritize and select/finalize advocacy issue in coordination and consultation with consortium.
  • Facilitating the partner organizations to maintain their social media presence and other digital media activities to profile their works through Plan’s social media platforms.
  • Work in multi-cultural environment, collaborating with consortium members and Plan’s Programme team.
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility

What we’re looking for

We need a dynamic individual who has a degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Communications for Development or similar areas with 2 to 3 years post-qualifications experience in communication and related activities. The candidate needs to have significant experience in generating content for high quality communication, branding and campaign materials like case study, photo story, scripts for video, promotional materials, infographics, fact sheets, micro blog, web stories etc. In addition, proven experience to write clearly, concisely and persuasively in English and Bangla– translating complex issues for a variety of audiences (e.g. policy-makers, general population, and young people) is also required. Demonstrated Knowledge on using modern communications channels and tools (e.g. media, digital media, blogs, web etc.) to maximum the impact of the organizational work will add value.

Salary Package for this role is BDT. 86,870 to BDT. 97,730 monthly cost of the company along with other benefits i.e., hospitalization benefit for spouse and children, contributory provident fund, Festival Bonus, leave, group insurance and yearly medical check-up for employee.

Closing Date: 17th June 2023.  Selected candidate will get initially one-year contract for this position and highly possibility for extension based on performance.
