Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences / Science / Business Administration / Arts from any reputed public university in Bangladesh or any reputable university abroad
  • No 3rd Class or CGPA less than 2.5 in any of the public examinations
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in development sector with any reputed organisation, including at least 5 years in senior management positions
  • Excellent in Bangla and English, both written and spoken

  • Committed and capable to bring changes in the life of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Bangladesh and neighbouring regions
  • Committed to equal rights of people irrespective of sex, race, religion, age or any other identity
  • Proven experience in both programme (relevant to NETZ sector programmes, climate-resilient livelihoods, inclusive quality education and equal human rights) and organisation management
  • Proven capabilities in staff supervision, capacity development and performance management, staff training and inclusive leadership
  • Demonstrated expertise in participatory approach including planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Solid experience in budget oversight and financial management, with special reference to co-funding agencies and institutions 
  • Personal and professional skills in organisational representation and networking
  • Demonstrated abilities in working with strategic planning and project design
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills

Job summary

The director of NETZ Bangladesh office contributes to the NETZ programme and organisation management. She provides conceptual and strategic directions to the NETZ BO staff. Moreover, the director is responsible for ensuring that the programmes in Bangladesh are making an impact for the people we work for; staff members of the NETZ BO are capable of monitoring and guiding the projects supported by NETZ; financial management of NETZ BO maintains transparency; that NETZ has a very good reputation to the relevant stakeholders; and NETZ is able to access resources necessary for running projects at the optimal level. 

Specific responsibilities

I. ORGANISATIONAL MANAGEMENT
The incumbent ensures ethical standards of NETZ including child protection policy, gender policy and code of conduct against sexual harassment. She contributes to development of the organisational policies and strategic directions along with the directors' team of NETZ and the management team of the NETZ BO. She participates in short-term and long-term planning of the NETZ BO and develops and implements guidelines.

II. PROGRAMMES MANAGEMENT
The director facilitates designing and development of the NETZ projects; provides guidance to sector team leaders in ensuring quality implementation of projects; facilitates research to document the lessons learnt from the programmes; ensures embeddedness of NETZ programmes with broader civil society initiatives in Bangladesh; and maintains effective cooperation between the NETZ BO and the NETZ Germany Office (GO).

III. FINANCE MANAGEMENT
The director oversees the financial management and financial transparency of the NETZ BO in cooperation with the Country Director. Besides, she will also guide the finance team to ensure transparency of projects through financial monitoring.

IV. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
Contributing to human resource management including motivation, the director ensures capacity development and on-the-job coaching of the co-workers. She will support GO colleagues in gaining deeper understanding of Bangladesh and development cooperation from a Bangladeshi perspective.

V. PARTNERING
The director will contribute to assessing new NGOs and the partner NGOs following the NETZ partnership guideline; visit the partner NGOs, projects and the target groups on a regular basis; support the programme teams in motivating and capacity building of the partner NGOs.

VI. REPRESENTATION AND RESOURCE MOBILISATION
The holder of the post contributes to funding opportunities following NETZ approaches and sectoral goals; promotes relationships with relevant institutional donors and international NGOs; and represents the NETZ BO in donors’ meetings, conferences and networking events.

VII. ADVOCACY AND CAMPAIGN
The director joins in designing and development of the advocacy and campaign of NETZ and gets involved in the advocacy and campaign events at the national and international level.
