Ipas is a nonprofit organization working with partners around the world to advance reproductive justice by expanding access to abortion and contraception. We aim to build sustainable abortion ecosystems that address all factors impacting a person’s ability to access abortion—from individual health knowledge to social and community support, to a trained health workforce, to political leadership and supportive laws. In Bangladesh Ipas works since 2011 and from its inception in the country we work closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure that women and girls can enhance their sexual and reproductive health via affordable, safe, respectful, and comprehensive abortion and contraceptive care. Ipas works throughout the country- in rural settings, in urban areas and in the humanitarian settings.

Ipas Bangladesh is seeking applications from hardworking, sincere, and cheerful individuals for the following position.

Position: Project Manager-Improving the Journey of People Using Medication Abortion in South Asia, Ipas Bangladesh (1 position-based in Dhaka, Bangladesh), Expected Duration-Three Years

Key Role

The Project Manager will oversee the Ipas Bangladesh component of the Improving the Journey of People Using Medication Abortion in South Asia project. This initiative aims to improve the experiences of individuals using medication abortion across Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. The project, led by Ipas in partnership with a consortium of organizations, will address challenges such as providing reliable information, offering person-centered care, training healthcare providers, and advocating for policy reforms aligned with WHO guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Coordination

  • Lead the implementation of the Improving the Journey of People Using Medication Abortion project in Bangladesh, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Ipas partners, including Ipas Development Foundation, Ibis Reproductive Health, MSI Reproductive Choices, and Agents of Ishq-Parodevi Pictures (AOI), to develop and execute work plans.
  • Establish and manage communication channels between Ipas Bangladesh and its strategic and implementing partners, ensuring smooth coordination and operational efficiency.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Lead the development and implementation of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework in collaboration with partners.
  • Ensure that project activities in Bangladesh align with the agreed-upon work plan and timeline.
  • Track progress toward project outcomes and adapt activities based on ongoing evaluation and feedback from stakeholders, especially communities.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with local stakeholders, including government bodies, community organizations, healthcare providers, and other relevant entities, to ensure support for project activities.
  • Collaborate with the Country Director and other Ipas team members to foster partnerships with national and local government stakeholders, ensuring buy-in for project activities.
  • Build strong relationships with external consultants, technical experts, and consortium partners.

Team Management

  • Supervise and support project staff, providing guidance and ensuring that tasks are being completed according to established objectives.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, and capacity-building efforts for consortium partners and local partners, especially on person-centered care and medication abortion information.
  • Ensure effective team coordination and foster a collaborative working environment.

Resource & Financial Management

  • Oversee project budgeting and financial planning, ensuring resources are allocated and used efficiently.
  • Support the Country Director in financial reporting and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Assist in managing sub-grant agreements with partners and monitor their progress.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare regular project reports, including progress reports for the donor and internal stakeholders.
  • Document key lessons learned and best practices, contributing to the adaptive learning model employed by the project.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of required documentation for project milestones and deliverables.

Advocacy & Policy Engagement

  • Support policy and advocacy initiatives in alignment with WHO guidelines, working with consortium partners to advocate for supportive policies and practices around medication abortion.
  • Engage in regional learning and knowledge sharing to advocate for the broader adoption of successful interventions.

Risk Management & Mitigation

  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, including political, social, and operational risks.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Country Director and project team.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development, Reproductive Health, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing health-related projects, preferably in the reproductive health or family planning sectors.
  • Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder projects and working within consortiums.
  • Experience managing donor-funded projects, including compliance with donor regulations.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare landscape in South Asia, particularly in relation to reproductive health, abortion care, and gender justice.

Skills

  • Strong project management skills, including work planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English and Bengali (both written and spoken) is required.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and using data to inform decision-making.
  • Knowledge of gender and reproductive justice frameworks.

Salary & Benefit

  • Ipas Bangladesh will offer an annual salary of BDT 2,977,248.00 and other benefits as per organizational policies.
