Duty Station: Head Office, Dhaka

Role Purpose: The Communication Officer will lead the development and delivery of high-quality communication products that promote Concern Bangladesh’s programmes, learning, and impact. Reporting to the Technical Advisor-Advocacy, the role focuses on strategic communication, storytelling, media engagement, and knowledge management. The post holder will work on capacity development of partners, engage with print and electronic media and assist to fundraising effort through content development, while ensuring full compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and ethical communication standards.

Main duties & responsibilities:

A. Communication Strategy and Content Development:

  • Support implementation of the Country Communication Plan aligned with Concern Worldwide’s Global Communication Strategy.
  • Develop high-quality written, visual, and multimedia communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Translate complex programme and technical information into clear, accessible communication products.
  • Ensure all communication outputs comply with Concern branding, visibility, and ethical communication guidelines.
  • Contribute to emergency communication and visibility during humanitarian responses as required.

B. Storytelling, Multimedia and Learning Products

  • Identify, document, and develop human-interest stories, case studies, success stories, and lessons learned from programmes.
  • Coordinate production of photographs, short videos, and audio-visual materials from field programmes.
  • Work closely with programme teams and partners to capture evidence-based stories demonstrating impact, innovation, and learning.
  • Assist in organising and facilitating training, workshops, and learning sessions for Concern staff and partner organisations following communication plan
  • Produce communication materials for internal learning, reflection, and cross-programme knowledge sharing.

C. Media and Public Engagement

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with print, electronic, and online media.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, media briefs, and key messages in Bangla and English.
  • Coordinate media visits, interviews, and coverage related to Concern’s programmes, campaigns, and events.
  • Monitor and document media coverage and visibility of Concern Bangladesh’s work.

D. Knowledge Management and Internal Communication

  • Support the development and maintenance of an accessible knowledge management system for communication materials.
  • Organise and archive communication outputs (stories, photos, videos, publications) for institutional memory.
  • Support orientation and basic capacity building for programme staff and partners on identifying stories and communication content.

E. Fundraising Support

  • Support branding, visibility, and communication components of project proposals in line with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate with programme and management teams to ensure compliance with donor communication guidelines.
  • Provide communication inputs to support fundraising efforts and contribute to proposal development, through sharing case studies, visuals, and success stories.

F. Accountability, Safeguarding and Data Protection

  • Ensure informed consent is obtained and documented for all communication materials involving programme participants
  • Ensure dignity, privacy, and rights of participants especially children and vulnerable groups are respected.
  • Comply with Concern’s safeguarding, data protection, ensure compliance with Concern’s information management and GDPR policies and Programme Participant Protection policies.
  • Support dissemination of information related to Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) and accountability commitments
  • Support adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) across all assigned responsibilities
  • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s emergency response as and when required
  • Upholding and promoting Concern’s values, including workplace equality, diversity, and inclusion values

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in writing and editing communication materials in Bangla and English.
  • Experience in storytelling, media engagement, and multimedia content production.
  • Good understanding of development and humanitarian issues in Bangladesh.
  • Ability to represent, liaise, and negotiate at various levels.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
