Concern Universal – Bangladesh (CU-B) is a UK based International NGO working in Bangladesh since 1993 with the vision to see a world where justice, dignity and respect prevail for all. Our mission is to challenge poverty and inequality through working in partnership.

Hence, Concern Universal – Bangladesh is looking for qualified and motivated individuals to fill up the following position for one of its new projects named ‘Disaster Risk Reduction through strengthening of CBOs and improved on-farm water management in coastal communities in Bangladesh’.

Project Officer- CBO Development

Position Rationale: Community development is a process whereby those who are marginalised and excluded from society are enabled to gain self-confidence and to join with others. They are encouraged to participate in actions to change their situation and to tackle the problems that face their community especially Disaster Risk Reduction. Project Officer, CBO Development will work for empowering the communities through facilitating the actives participation of people in addressing issues that affect them collectively. It will be done in a variety of contexts in specific partnership with CBOs and local authorities. He/she will work closely with Project Manager, M&E Officer, Project Engineer and respective PNGOs.

Major Responsibilities:

• Engage with the project implementation process with the partners accordingly provides technical supports;
• Provide support the Project Manager to develop project planning, implementation guidelines and modalities, awareness raising activities’ modules development, organizing and conducting training/orientation/workshop;
• Maintain coordination, advocacy and lobby with CBOs, WMGs, UDMCs, WMAs, BDWB and LGIs; 
• Monitor and provide support on CBOs on going activities performing by their own initiatives for reducing the disaster risks;
• Liaise with other NGOs, relevant government agencies and in the preparation and implementation of the policy and advocacy initiatives.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

• Masters in relevant discipline with at least 3 years’ experience in development sectors and working experience with vulnerable groups, CBOs, LGIs, BWDB;
• Working experience with BWDB, Polder Management, Earth work management, Sluice gate management etc. is an assets
• Strong working experience of partnership with local NGOs in coastal regions;
• Experience in developing different guidelines/manuals/IEC materials is plus;
• Excellent monitoring skills in field level activities;
• Experience of using different PRA tools;
• Good written and spoken in Bangla and English
• Computer literacy skills (MS word, Excel, Power point)

Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary BDT. 38,325.00 Plus out patient medical allowance, hospitalization and group life insurance and other admissible benefits as per HR policy.

Location: Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali District with regular travel to Mirzagonj Upazila in Patuakhali District.

The duration of the proposed contract will be eight months from February 2015.
