Expression of Interest (EoI)

An Architecture / Consultancy Firm to provide technical expertise service as consultant to assess and provide sustainable workshop solution to the selective Agricultural Based Light Engineering Enterprise (ABLE) workshops in project area.

Background:

The Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia- Mechanization and Extension Activity (CSISA-MEA), implemented in the Feed the Future zones in Bangladesh, by CIMMYT in partnership with iDE and Georgia Institute of Technology, funded by the USAID. The Activity seeks to transform the means of agricultural production system through mechanization.

CSISA-MEA’s of the objective is to boost up local manufacturing in Bangladesh specially agriculture-based machineries. In relation to this CSISA-MEA is supporting Agriculture Based Light Engineering (ABLE) workshops in technical expertise and business improvement. Presently workshops are not environmentally appropriate, energy efficient, comfortable working environment. CSISA-MEA has plan to initiate model workshop idea piloting to establish new workshop or renovate existing workshop by using sustainable materials to ensure it is environmentally appropriate, energy efficient, comfortable working environment, gender sensitive, and socially inclusive.

To that end, CSISA-MEA seeks to hire a professionally skilled Architecture / consultancy Firm to perform a feasibility assessment of potential workshops to develop sustainable workshops in the project area based on the feasibility report. The selected workshop will be developed as new or to renovate /upgrade the existing workshop by using sustainable materials to ensure it is environmentally appropriate, energy efficient, comfortable working environment, gender sensitive, and socially inclusive.

Objectives: The major objectives of hiring a contractual Architecture Firm are to:

  • Conduct a rapid feasibility assessment of potential workshops (07 nos) to become sustainable workshops with details in project area.
    • Field visits potential workshops to assess their suitability to be selected as sustainable workshops based upon the feasibility of providing technical assistance specific each workshop wise (not limited to design, drawings, materials estimation, costing, expert technical manpower information, material source information etc.) to the workshops to either establish a new model workshop or to renovate / upgrade an existing workshop into a sustainable workshop.
    • Present findings and recommendations (as mentioned above specific workshop wise) based on the selected workshops and plan for next stages related consultancy report to be submitted to CIMMYT.

  • Firm must submit a final report combining each workshops plan to be a model workshop Perform a feasibility assessment of potential workshops not limited to not limited to design (3D) & drawings (civil, structural and architectural), materials estimation, costing, material source information etc.

Proposed Area (s): Total 07 (seven) workshops in project area (Bogura-2, Jessore-2, Faridpur-1 and Cox’s bazar- 2)

Technical proposal should have the following information:

  • Understanding of the assignment (Max. one page)
  • Your strength for this work includes team (MUST include experienced architect, structural & civil expert) and technical set-up. (Max. one page)
  • Detail timeframe (Max. one page)
  • Link of previous work (related to eco-friendly workshop designing and construction etc.)

Financial proposal should have the following information:

  • Detail financial budget for the assignment
  • Travel, food, accommodation, and HR cost
  • Legal documents (BIN/TIN, trade license)
