Job Context
The Merchandiser holds the accountability for working closely with team from product development and sampling stage till shipment ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks and timely dispatch in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Independently execute Woven bottom product development, understand latest fashion trends, source new yarns and develop customer specific collections
- Ensure smooth communications with customers and suppliers on day-to-day merchandising activities and approvals
- Continuously update the woven fabrics, trims, print embroideries, washes and stitch library including technical data and price idea for easy reference
- Understand customer requirements and closely work with design team to manage the correct samples within time and quality
- Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities
- Ensure production and samples follow up with factories and related procedures
- Communicate with buyers on day-to-day merchandising activities and approvals
- Prepare the QA files for on time handover for both buyer and ZXY QA
- Source trims, accessories, and fabrics (both overseas and local)
- Prepare costing sheets with all the necessary breakdowns from factories
- Arrange lab dip, trims, bulk fabric color, and quality testing for customer approval
- Work closely with the fabric mills and suppliers ahead of design packs to develop new fabrics and finishes to reduce lead time
- Follow-up TNA on regular basis to ensure on-time delivery with right quality and quantity
- Visit factories regularly to get market intelligence
- Coordinate and monitor quality of the product through quality personnel
- Place forwarder booking through logistics and monitor the shipment of the products
- Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Graduate in Textile Manufacturing / Apparel Merchandising from a well reputed institute
- At least 5 years’ merchandising experience in a reputed buying office or factory in Woven category
- Must be knowledgeable of garments construction and costing, specifically Woven fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface applications (e.g., heat transfer, embroideries, screen-printing), Kidswear product safety and integrity
- Must have extensive experience of product development, sourcing of materials, costing, production tracking and execution of orders independently
Technical Job Requirements
- Profound knowledge of Woven garment engineering and production processes is required
- Have sound knowledge of fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers
- Should have excellent understanding of technical / production process
- Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
- Should be able to handle MIS entries
- Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
- Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
- Good understanding of core business aspects
- Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials booking and delivery

- Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English
- IT proficiency - advanced level skill is a MUST in MS Office package (Especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
- Ability to multitask and remain organized, meet deadlines
