Job Context
The Senior Manager/Manager - Design & Development will be accountable for managing the full execution of the ZXY/customer collections and driving the overall design and product strategy. The incumbent will be involved in providing the design direction for the fashion season, attending overseas sourcing trips, and training and managing a team of designers/product developers.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with the Design & Development Head to embrace the objectives of the season and develop the necessary materials to meet the objectives
- Develop and select seasonally appropriate styles, fabrics, trims, and coordinate sample development based on the overall brand(s) vision and strategy
- Develop design strategies based on country’s strength, business units’ (BU) specialties, price points, and knowhows in direct relation to the requirement of the clients
- Ensure “BIG IDEAS” are identified, developed and executed
- Initiate and design new products in each category (active/ sports/ outerwear/ fashion/ bottoms/ shirts etc.) with a balance between price and innovation
- Communicate with international offices and BUs to understand the demand and feedback of projects
- Build a network of professionals/visionary suppliers in the industry to benefit the process of development
- Oversee overall design proposals for customers as well as ZXY collection
- Review regularly the status of projects to ensure relevancy to the requirement are met
- Analyze the hit rate of each designer and developer in regards to business generated and service
- Direct the apparel and graphic designers with concepts, ideas, planning, execution and targets
- Cross checking every sample and design work before sending projects/ samples to clients
- Ensure all new products are pictured, categorized & presented properly in pdf formats to send to customers
- Ensure final product offering to client is aligned with global aesthetic and requirement
- Organize and keep a track of key products from all our offices (Turkey, India, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh) to showcase to our customers on marketing trips and build up a global image of product diversity and expertise
- Plan and derive a calendar for seasonal collections for marketing, special product launch, exhibition participation & client visits
- Develop marketing kit season specific twice in a year (Design /Ranges /Print books, Fabric books, Catalogues)
- Send ranges and collection to sales offices in Europe & Canada following calendar & timeline
- Study each Business Unit in terms of customers, products, prices and execution, make a report to the BU head and management
- Meeting with Business unit head to plan and generate seasonal product development calendar for key existing customers
- Advice Business units on ideas /plan to execute client requirements on product categories as well as product presentation during customer visits
- Demonstrate working knowledge of all categories, merchandising division, costing, marketing, sourcing, technical, pricing, market knowhow etc. in order to evaluate and make better recommendation to better service of customer
- Attend all client meetings in office to develop relations and deliver their expectations
- Hold weekly meetings with design and sampling team on all projects, give clear decisions and solution on issues
- Attend and run fittings, review samples, make comments and advise corrections
- Organize creative workshops to motivate team members.
- Research (trend books, magazines, brands, competitions, Internet, products etc.) and be ahead of competitive marketplace.
- Schedule fairs and visits to suppliers, factories / buyers/other offices and get approved by Management.
- Learn new technologies, software, trends in the market to increase in knowledge and train the team.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Post Graduate in Fashion/Apparel Design, Fashion Merchandising or related field from a well reputed institute
- At least 10 years’ work experience as a Design Head / Manager in Knits & Wovens category in a reputed liaison or buying office
- Must have extensive experience of design, trend forecasting, product development and costing
- In-depth knowledge and work experience on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
Technical Job Requirements
- Knowledge of fabrics and trims, sourcing, material and product specs, garment construction, pattern making, related testing and costing
- Ability to identify fashion trends and interpret them into commercial designs
- Must have an understanding of price relation to product development
- Ability to troubleshoot product issues with technical & sourcing teams

- Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English

- Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
- Ability to multitask and remain organized, meet deadlines
