Assistant Merchandising Manager / Senior Merchandiser (Home Textiles)

Job Context
The Assistant Merchandising Manager / Senior Merchandiser holds the accountability for leading the new business growth strategy in the category Home Textiles and be responsible for setting up the new product category in ZXY. The incumbent will act as a bridge between customers and manufacturers from product development stage to order analysis, production till shipment and payment realization for the designated accounts.
Job Responsibilities
- Build customer base and generate business through existing and new customers
- Take lead in buyer meetings and present latest collection of samples to buyers
- Ensure continuous product development is offered to customers & work closely with the design team and factories in development of new samples.
- Ensure all customer inquiries are answered within 24hrs and all actions have been taken promptly
- Engage in costing & price negotiation with customers and vendors
- Analyze customer progress report in terms of growth/shortcomings/product and price points, get customer feedback on inquiries and close the orders with clarity on cost/ margin
- Review new tech packs and developments to identify any critical points and provide the right details to the factory
- Ensure all customer requirements are met in production based on customer tech packs
- Recommend any changes to the products or process improvements, which can help make production friendlier for construction without changing the aesthetics of the garment
- Conduct production meetings with the factories and QA team as per the allocated time and follow up with the factories on the progress of the orders
- Select and visit different fabric/textile mills, production, printing, washing factories and build long-term relationships for future orders
- Regularly evaluate factory performance and source & develop new factories as per requirements
- Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Graduate in Textile Technology or Textile Engineering from a well reputed institution
- At least 10 years’ merchandising experience in a reputed buying office or factory in Home Textiles with exposure in both bed & bath categories
- Ideal candidate will have a very high degree of technical and commercial competence and should have in depth knowledge of business development, product development, costing, sourcing and understanding of the production process.
- Candidates having connections with buyers and suppliers within and outside Bangladesh will be an added advantage.
Technical Job Requirements
- Profound knowledge of Home Textiles engineering and production processes is required
- Have sound knowledge of fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers
- Should be able to source and develop new products independently and support the organization in setting up the new product category
- Should have excellent understanding of Home Textiles technical / production process
- Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
- Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
- Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
- Good understanding of core business aspects
- Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials, booking and delivery

- Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
- Ability to multi task and remain organized, meet deadlines
