Product Developer (Woven)

Job Context

The incumbent will be responsible for conceptualizing and translating buyer handwriting and design guidelines into production feasible designs for crafting the perfect product, while leveraging interaction, UI, and visual design to deliver the best work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute and follow-up on developments and sampling up to SMS
  • Develop ZXY seasonal collection as well as Buyer specific range every season
  • Coordinate with factories & suppliers for any new developments, sourcing and sampling 
  • Prepare time and action plan (T&A) for customer developments and maintain T&A with the help of account head and merchants and also to update customer on weekly basis
  • Meet deadlines for all developments and samples with the right quality
  • Continuous sourcing of new fabrics / technology, washing techniques & trims for new developments and samples
  • Prepare prior to customer visits by researching customer background, trends, quality requirements, price point etc. and accordingly articulate the presentation during customer visit
  • Prepare the showroom prior to customer visits and also attend customer meetings and take visit notes
  • Maintain and make available all technical data for Design and Merchandising prior to costing during the development phase
  • Prepare and continuously update the fabric, trims, print, embroideries, washes and stitch library including technical data and price ideas for easy reference
  • Provide Graphics and CAD Development/Support for new and existing customer
  • Conduct Risk analysis during product development
  • Prepare cost sheet of the product/sample
  • Handover the styles to Merchandisers along with all the product details and technical information after any order is confirmed
  • Conduct a thorough study of the tech packs received from the customers /senior merchandisers / design department
  • Analyze the fabrics, trims and knitting parameters, wash in detail
  • Maintain fabric library, wash recipe, trim sheet etc.
  • Create sampling request in MIS, and generate a product file style wise
  • Guide pattern master, sampling unit, and factory on the requirement
  • Source the right fabric & trims very close to actuals for the development
  • Develop prints, embroideries, and washes from the suppliers
  • Follow up on the sampling status regularly to meet deadlines and ensure accurate samples
  • Ensure Fit approval & wearer tests
  • Prepare sample plan based on priority and availability
  • Communicate about development status with concern Merchandiser/ Designer
  • Prepare sample delivery status
  • Monitor sample execution
  • Preserve sample data and utilize it during bulk production

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Textile or fashion graduate from a reputed university
  • At least 4 years’ work experience as a Product Developer in Ladies tops category especially with a factory or buying office and having experience in sports category will be an added advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrics and stitches
  • In-depth knowledge and work experience on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Must have extensive experience of product development, accessories, costing and execution of techpacks independently

  • Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
  • Ability to multi task and remain organized, meet deadlines
