Manager/ Assistant Manager - Merchandising (Knits)

Our leading European organization is recruiting for an exciting position at our HQ, in the heart of Dhaka. Job Responsibilities

  • Independently manage knit product development, understand latest fashion trends, source new yarns and develop customer specific collections
  • Continuously update the knit fabrics, trims, print embroideries, washes and Stitch Library including technical data and price idea for easy reference
  • Understand customer requirements and closely work with design team to manage the correct samples within time and quality
  • Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities
  • Production and samples follow up with factories and related procedures
  • Communicate with buyers on day to day merchandising activities and approvals
  • Preparation of the QA files to hand it over on time for both buyer and our QA
  • Accomplish merchandising cycle (File / Record keeping / Sampling / TNAs / QA file making / Production follow ups / Shipment booking)
  • Trims, accessories, fabric sourcing (overseas and local)
  • Prepare costing sheets with all the necessary breakdowns from factories
  • Communicate with factories on lab dip, fabric, proto submission based on set timelines
  • To work with the fabric mills and suppliers ahead of design packs to develop new fabrics and finishes to reduce lead time
  • Ensure all suppliers are using nominated sources for trims
  • Provide monthly intelligence report to the business on actual and potential rises and falls in current cost factors
  • Visit factories regularly to get market intelligence
  • Coordinate and monitor quality of the product through quality personnel
  • Ensure and monitor shipment of the product
  • Study tech packs thoroughly
  • Factory sourcing with approval
  • Maintain Time and Action (T&A) plan
  • Behave Ethically: Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Must be Graduate or equivalent of Fashion Diploma or Textile management
  • At least 8 years of merchandising experience in the factory or buying office
  • Must have extensive experience of product development, accessories, costing and execution of orders independently

Additional Job Requirements

  • Profound knowledge of Knit garment engineering and production processes is required
  • Have an excellent network of print, embroidery & trims suppliers – should be able to source & develop new products independently
  • Should have excellent understanding of Knit technical / production process
  • Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
  • Very sound knowledge in knit fabrics
  • Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
  • Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
  • Good understanding of core business aspects
  • Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials, booking and delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships work as a team
  • Should be well-groomed, smart and energetic
  • Strong presentation and delivery skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, aiming for perfection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English (also technical terms written and spoken)
  • IT proficiency - advance level skill is a MUST in MS Office package (Specially, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
  • Ability to multi task and remain organized, meet deadlines
