ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Market Systems Specialist will work with market actors in the aquaculture sector. The 'aquaculture sector' is broadly defined to include not only feed, seed, fish farmers, processors, and the like, but also finance & banking, advertising, wholesalers & retailers, associations, and all other market actors.

The Senior Market Systems Specialist will identify and engage private sector partners who can support the aims of the activity and are willing to invest in providing high quality aquaculture goods and services which illuminate a solutions to market obstacles and prove viable solutions. The post holder will help the partners refine their plans for demonstrations, pilots, and tests of new approaches during the sub-grant process, actively oversee sub-grantee implementation, studiously collect information about process and results, and then develop and implement activities to spread the learning widely to other market actors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies market actors, assesses end markets, develops value chain maps, identifies challenges and opportunities, and market-based solutions to integrate small-scale producers into their supply chains and commercial distribution networks by conducting market research, mapping, consultation workshop at regional level etc. and design appropriate market driven interventions.
  • Assist and negotiate with regional private sector businesses and organizations to finalize detail business model for support in response to calls for proposals from the activity.
  • Improves and adapts program design through internal and external collaboration and learning.
  • Guide the MEL/CLA team with development and uses of data and information on sub-grant activity results.
  • Collects stakeholder reports, generate reports, case studies and other communications as BANA's point of contact for assigned sub-grants.

Requirements

This job is open to all applicants with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Master’s in Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Aquaculture or other related field.
  • 10 years' overall experience is required with at least 5 years’ experience, knowledge and skills in market systems and enterprise development, preferably in the aquaculture sector.
  • Experience working in the private sector with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Understanding of gender, youth, environment and nutrition sensitive approaches to enterprise development.
  • Strong team building and interpersonal communication skills to build network among stakeholders.
  • Proficient in MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook to support effective communication.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the zone of influence (ZOI).

Eligibility and Location

The position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in December 2022 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available as soon as possible to serve the fixed term contract with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
