ABOUT THE POSITION

Working with the Artemia4Bangladesh project team, Junior Research Assistant will assist to implement activities to establish and disseminate integrated salt, Artemia and Aquaculture to increase food and nutrition security of salt/fish farmers.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Provide support in field activities, research work in the working area through coordination with Research Associates and Research Assistants.
  • Guide target community/stakeholders with clear information regarding process and results for active participation in the project activities.
  • Assist to prepare work plans and targets, progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual),assist scientific publications.
  • Collect required research and monitoring and evaluation data (both qualitative and quantitative), ensure data quality, assist in analysis.
  • Assist to organize training/ workshop/ seminar in the working area
  • Work closely with the stakeholders/ partners, provide technical assistance to set up demonstration farms for Artemia cyst and biomass, and aquaculture of saline tolerant species in the salt farms.
  • Support to provide technical assistance to increase aquaculture production and productivity through locally produced Artemia cyst and biomass.
  • Assist in enhancing marine aquaculture technologies such as shrimp, crab, marine fish production.

Requirements

This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Marine sciences, and other development related subjects.
  • Candidates with experience in research / survey work, private sector, community discussion, and data collection, organize meeting/ workshop/ seminar, writing meeting minutes, reports in Aquaculture/ fisheries or related areas will be preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in remote areas with locally available transportation. Willing and able to travel by motorcycle with valid driving license.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Computer literacy in standard MS Office programs, data analysis, prepare presentations.
  • Demonstrate WorldFish values.

Desired Skills and Qualification

  • At least 1 year or more experience in relevant activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to both in work, assist team, and manage field.
  • Committed and motivated.

Salary and Benefits

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT495,320 - BDT588,193 per annum. WorldFish NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.

Recruitment Process

The position will be based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to begin in June 2022 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview session. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial of twenty (20) months fixed-term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding situation.
