Consultant (Gender and Nutrition Analysis) (01 position)

Position Background

The gender and nutrition analysis will involve a comprehensive assessment of gender relations in the project area, both at the household and community level, and how the cultural, social, and economic context shape these relations. This study helps us learn about social behaviors in the area, especially around food, nutrition, shopping at the market and women’s and family health and wellbeing. The research will be conducted by World Fish, and coordinating with other base line study. Information collected from this research will be used to inform the design of activities and messages of the project that deal specifically with gender inequalities in the project context, for both targeted household and communities.

One senior level consultant will be hired to produce the report of Gender and Nutrition Analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and review relevant project documents: study protocol, project proposal, and other. These will be useful to inform the background and scope of the analysis.
  • Meet with the JICA - FDA team to have a better understanding of the end-report requirements.
  • Take part at the two-day participatory analysis workshop (tentatively planned during the 2nd week of February), where data will be critically analysed with the ultimate scope of identifying key action points for advancing gender and Nutrition equality in JICA-FDA. The consultant will actively take part at the interpretation process and support the team in taking notes.
  • Have interactions with the Sr. gender and Nutrition Specialist team to gain additional inputs.
  • Submit a draft report to the Sr. Gender and Nutrition for reviewing within 6 working days from the workshop.
  • Meet all suggestions/comments with the draft report and submit a final report within 2 working days from WF’s review.
  • Prepare a comprehensive and quality baseline report including recommendation based on the findings with necessary statistical analysis, graphs and tables;

  • Attend Data interpretation Workshop  at Coax’s Bazar for qualitative Data Analysis
  • Draft Gender and Nutrition Analysis report
  • Final report submission

Requirements

This opportunity might be suitable for you if you have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Consultant for Gender and Nutrition Analysis: Education: PhD in Gender and development or an advanced degree in sociology, gender & development, public health and Nutrition or any other social sciences with ten years of experience in Gender, Nutrition and SBCC studies.
  • Wide experience (five years) in conducting qualitative social research, community situation analysis or similar kind of research or baseline gender and Nutrition analysis;
  • Facilitating experience for national or international sessions /seminars;
  • Fluent in English, client-orientation, ability to work in a team
  • Good report writing skills and at least 3 articles in international peer-reviewed journals relevant to natural resource management/food &nutrition security/ social justice; 
  • For highly deserving candidates with significant working experience in the related field or with fishing communities, educational requirements and publishing in international journals, and previous working experience with donor funded projects may be relaxed;
  • Have Tax Identification Number (TIN) & VAT registration number and VAT and Income tax policy will be applicable for the payment process.

Eligibility, Location and Duration

This opportunity is open for national consultant only and will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with one field visit in Cox’s Bazar district. The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience, and the most competitive proposal. The interviews are expected to be held in February 2022 and only shortlisted consultant will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful consultant should be available to commence the consultancy contract for maximum of ten (10) working days in between 02 - 28 February 2022.
