Position Background
The Field based Junior Research Assistant will work under the guidance of the Aquaculture Specialist cum Divisional Coordinator of IDEA project. The post holder will also work closely with other field Team members of IDEA project of Rangpur Division. The work will be focusing on “Market System Development of Mola Broodstock Disseminate to Farmers for Stocking in Ponds and Other Waterbodies”. S/he is responsible to work towards achieving the following results:

Result #1: Increased productivity and diversity of fish production systems of the project and to engage with team members and partners to support.
Result #2: Increase stakeholder access to quality input and services.
Result #3: Improved market linkages.
Result #4: improved dietary diversity and consumption.
Result #5: Women’s empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identification, selection and social mobilization of the Local Service Providers (LSPs) in the relevant districts.
  • Assist in identification, selection and social mobilization of the farmers in the relevant districts.
  • Provide support to developed network and build strong linkages with selected LSPs to support the private sector particularly fish seed traders, mola brood fish supplier etc.
  • Assist in organizing the training to LSP and farmers.
  • Assist in data collection from the farmers and selected LSPs.
  • Assist in preparing a database of the research activities and also assist in synthesizing the data.

Requirements

This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, and other development related subjects, fresh graduates are encourage to apply.
  • Candidates with 1 year or more experience in relevant activities will be given preference.
  • Candidates with experience in research/survey work, community discussion, and data collection, organize training, report writing in Aquaculture/fisheries or related areas will be preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in remote areas with locally available transportation.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Computer literacy in standard MS Office programs, data analysis, prepare presentations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Committed and motivated.

Benefits
This is a six (06) months' temporary position with salary ranging between BDT 30,000/- to BDT 35,000/- per month. WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package inclusive of comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) paid annual leave, insurance coverage for staff, and pension/provident fund contribution.

Recruitment Process
This position will be based in Rangpur, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in January 2022 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence in January 2022 for an initial six (6) months temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
