Assistant Project Accountant (Temporary) (01 position)

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Finance Assistant (partnership management) will assist Finance Officer to manage all financial support to the CORE FINANCE Activity as a core team of corporate finance in Dhaka. The post holder will work closely with Finance team of CORE FINANCE, Accounts Managers for day-to-day financial/partnership management with close interaction with the Team Leader. The position holder will assist finance and program teams to delivering accurate and timely finances support to the role that includes collaborating with other members of the finance team to ensure proper accounting transactions and compliance with WorldFish and the donor requirements. S/he will also work closely with different implementing partners, assist to develop different financial plan, budget, assist to prepare reports for donor and WorldFish. Properly maintained audit compliances, assisting field staffs/offices, donor/funding organizations and government officials to ensure quality delivery of finances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure day to day financial and operational support to the Activity of field offices.
  • Ensure financial records are submitted timely to supervisor and are in compliance with WorldFish/ CGIAR/donor’s financial rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that project expenses are accounted for accurately in the system and reported to the Finance Officer, donor completely, according to agreed timelines.
  • Assist in project management and project administration team from project initiation to project closure including, but not limited to, maintaining proper project accounting files and master data, responding to external and internal queries, sending vouchers through courier to Dhaka Office after proper checking and validation; maintain partner’s record.
  • Assist in handling vendors payable and liquidation of staffs and partners; use appropriate.
  • Assist to timely closing of monthly accounts in OCS.
  • Assist to review partner's contract, fund request and financial report and maintain partner's record in OCS properly.
  • Assist in preparing the Donor financial report and submit to the project leader as and when required.
  • Report to supervisor regarding the remaining funding available for projects and partners.
  • Support in the program events, procurement of goods and services, travel arrangement & monitoring and provide support to Research Assistant/Associates in transferring the assets to project beneficiaries.
  • Support in other activities as and when required as per supervisor’s advice.
  • Undertake other tasks as appropriate to further advance relevant strategies and initiatives and as discussed with WorldFish and One-CGIAR’s leadership.
  • Support in the budgeting, forecasting process, budget modification etc.

Requirements

This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance, partly qualified with a professional accountancy body (e.g. CA, CMA, CGA, ACCA are preferable).
  • At least 1-2 years of accounting, finance and/or audit experience.
  • Preferably, work experience in International organizations / multi-national firms will have added advantage.
  • Experience in a non-profit set up and understanding of project management is a plus.
  • Must be conversant with international accounting standards i.e. IFRS / IAS and donor rules and regulations.
  • Relating to project/program accounting and financial reporting.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work with different levels of staff.
  • Experiences on partner’s management.
  • Good command of English (both verbal and written).
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with reputable ERP systems such as Agresso/OCS.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams applications.

Desired Skills and Qualification

  • Able to support project financial matters.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in NGO sector.
  • Accounting experience in a development organization.

Salary and Benefits

This is a three (3) months and fifteen (15) days temporary position with salary ranging in between BDT 55,420 to BDT 69,275 monthly.

Eligibility, Location and Duration

This post holder will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in September 2021 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence in September 2021 for an initial three (3) months and fifteen (15) days short term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
