II. Background and Rationale:
Project Title: Feed the Future Bangladesh Aquaculture Activity (BAA)

Project Description:
USAID's Feed the Future Bangladesh Aquaculture Activity (BAA) is a five-year project working to improve nutrition through growth in the aquaculture sector. WorldFish is partnering the BAA project with the USAID since 2018 across 21 districts in the southwestern and two districts in the southeast part of Bangladesh.

In the course of our work, we produce a number of communications materials-- posters, brochures, booklets, and infographics.

We need a graphic designer to finalize a theme or general look for these pieces and also to produce these pieces using photoshop, adobe, canva, coreldraw, or similar software products.

WorldFish has the photographs and copy. The graphic designer will do lay-out and images such as graphs, charts and other similar communications materials.

III. Description of Assignment:
Production of original / high quality graphic design materials to disseminate the work of the Feed the Future Bangladesh Aquaculture Activity (BAA). The materials will follow USAID and WorldFish branding and graphic guidelines and will be used to improve/develop the design and layout of publications, web content, presentations and other communication products.

The Graphic Designer will work closely in WorldFish Country Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh, or remotely with Communications Specialist to produce a series of communications materials requested.

For each of these, the Communications Specialist will prepare a scope of work and supply all information needed to complete the piece. The graphic designer will estimate the time needed for completion, and finalize a schedule for each assigned piece. The graphic designer will work as a consultant and be paid by the hour.

We expect to have 15-20 pieces of work for the graphic designer over the coming year. This is an ongoing but intermittent freelance opportunity. In particular the consultant will:

  • Transform text-based communications materials into visual graphic design materials such as infographic, brochures, backdrop etc.
  • Develop designs for communication materials based on assignment brief
  • Provide recommendations on the best and most relevant visual design style and materials suitable for the project’s target audience
  • Liaise with BAA Communications Specialist regarding any visual design work

  • Project infographics
  • Project factsheets

IV. Requirements of Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrates ability to produce quality visual pieces
  • Responds positively to meet deadlines with quality work
  • Displays maturity and professionalism with openness and responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view
  • Graduate in relevant discipline (arts, or similar)
  • Excellent knowledge in English
  • Practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, CorelDraw, Canva or similar software products

V. Evaluation method and criteria:
The ranking shall be made based on proposals that are:

  • Relevant work experience samples from the portfolio.
  • References or recommendations from previous clients will be valued.

VI. Payment:

  • The consultancy fee will be paid by hour per based upon submission of each approved case/s.
