Solicitation to develop and market nutritious ready to eat fish products

The Feed the Future Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity (BANA) is a five-year project of USAID to intend to improve nutrition through growth in the aquaculture sector growth.  BANA works in 21 districts of southwestern Bangladesh and two districts in the southeast.

In Bangladesh, the fisheries sector is contributing significantly in food and nutrition security through consistently providing adequate animal protein, almost 60% of total animal protein supply and more than 11% of the population of Bangladesh is engaged in this sector.

The market for ready to eat (RTE) snacks and meals has been flourishing in recent years, and there is an opportunity for fish based products to find a large market.  In addition, fish products are nutritious.  Using quality food fish from domestic fish farms and produced at high standards for taste, quality, and affordability, a Bangladeshi fish processor can find new revenue streams and Bangladeshi consumers will have good quality ready to eat fish options.

BANA is looking for a company in the food industry which will develop and market fish based process products.  These might be new products, entry into new markets or market segments, or re-positioning existing products.  We are particularly interested in nutritious recipes and nutritious food for children.
