Program Officer (Temporary Position)


The overall responsibilities for this position are to provide overall technical guidance to Community Enumerator for fish catch and biodiversity monitoring and coordinate with Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) fisheries and other relevant staffs of the project to get information on fisheries management related activities in the sample water-bodies related to Fishery Promotion component. The incumbent are require to implement the project activities in the field level (i.e. five haor districts are Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kishoreganj, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria) of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the method of collection and ensure data accuracy for all information collected from project participants by respective Community Enumerators.
  • Facilitate and conduct relevant training for all Community Enumerators including frequent coaching and mentoring support.
  • Coordinate with SMS fisheries and other employees to get information on fisheries management related activities in the sample water-bodies.
  • Assist senior staffs and finance team to submit timely financial report to donor.
  • Verify data sheet, data encoded, data entry, data checking and primary analysis.
  • Prepare data tables.
  • Prepare short monthly report issues and events of the assigned water-bodies.


This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Aquaculture/Fisheries or related discipline with experience in inland capture fisheries management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in relevant activities could be flexible in case of higher education.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, setting priority of work, meeting deadlines, solving problems and making timely and appropriate decisions.
  • Able to work hard and have motivation for frequent field visit with motorbike.
  • Proficiency of spoken and written English.
  • Strong in essential computer software/packages for database management and data analysis and also presentation preparation.

Desired Skills and Qualification

  • Experience in private sector, NGO, aquaculture and fisheries development field.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assists team and manage different event.
  • Committed and motivated.
  • Own a valid motorbike driving license.

Salary and Benefits

This is a ten (10) months temporary position with salary ranging in between BDT 32,000 to BDT 34,000 monthly.

Eligibility, Location and Duration

This position will be based at WorldFish’s Office in Sunamganj, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in September 2019 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence by September 2019 for an initial ten (10) months temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
