World Concern, an International Non-Government Organization, has Education programs, Child right, Disaster Preparedness Program, Micro-finance programs, and Capacity Building and organizational development program both in rural and urban areas in Bangladesh. We are searching an energetic, smart & potential candidate for the position of ‘Project Accountant’ based in Dhaka for few months then in the Barishal District from October 2025 for the EPJIA Project. Detail of Job Description and other necessary requirements for the position is described as below:

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Position: Project Accountant for Ensure Protection and Justice Through Integrated Approach (EPJIA) Project

2. Location: Based in Dhaka (at Country Office for World Concern (Bangladesh) for few months then based in Barishal Sadar based from October 2025

3. Reports to: Project Manager, with matrix reporting to the Finance Manager

4. Working Hour: From 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 30 minutes
lunch break. Working day are from Sunday through Thursday. The staff may be required to work beyond these hours in emergencies.

5. Purpose: Guided by World Concern’s global strategic plan, the Project Accountant assists the Finance Manager by providing in budget preparations, project accounting, monitoring project budgets and actual expenditures, preparing financial reports and assisting the Project Management Team in understanding the basics of donor regulations and World Concern Financial policies on the project/s that have been assigned (portfolio).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget and Cash Management

  • Assist in the preparation of the budget proposal and modifications.
  • Conduct regular cash count, as applicable
  • Prepare project’s fund request in an accurate and timely manner for submission to the Project
  • Manager & Finance Manager for approval
  • Assist Project Manager in monitoring the availability of sufficient funds for the smooth implementation of the project’s operations and activities.

Accounting

  • Process project’s requests for payment by ensuring mathematical accuracy, sufficiency of supporting documents, budget availability, compliance with the required approvals. Appropriate accounting journal entries must be used.
  • Ensure that appropriate vouchers (receipt, disbursement and journal) are prepared for all project transactions in accordance with sound accounting principles and processes (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Monitor staff advances. No 2nd advance must be given unless the previous one have been fully liquidated.
  • Support the Project Management Team on matters related to accounting technical issues and concerns.
  • Review the monthly payrolls for project staff, including compliance with current taxation and exemptions.
  • Ensure that accounting vouchers and files of the project are kept in a secure manner.
  • Support the Finance Manager in the confirmation of the availability budget prior to expenditure being incurred under the project.
  • Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation of the project for submission to the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare project’s financial reporting and analysis
  • Coordinate with Project’s Logistics & Administration to ensure the Asset register is maintained.

Compliance

  • Make sure all project financial documents are in compliance with the requirements for supporting documentation, following World Concern financial procedures. Ensure all additional documents are obtained and procedures required by U.S. government grants or other donor requirements are followed.
  • Ensure all copies of final signed project agreement are available on file.
  • Assist in both internal and external auditing requirements for the project. Provide requested documentation to the WC headquarters office for the project’s audit, meeting deadlines as stipulated.
  • Support in compliance with local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports; advising the Project Manager on the actions needed.
  • Facilitate storage of project’s financial reports and records pertaining in line with the donor, WC and government requirements.
  • Prepare reconciliations as required by the donor and/or the organization.
  • Ensure project close out procedures are done according to the donor guidelines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Understand, articulate and support WCB vision, mission, core identity and values
  • Minimum M. Com. in Accounting, MBA or equivalent
  • At least 1-year relevant experience in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English
  • Working knowledge of accounting software packages and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have problem solving capabilities; be able to work independently while staying aligned with the culture and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Work efficiently and professionally with a variety of personality types.
  • Available for at least a two year commitment.

Working Conditions:

  • Office set-up with business hours from 8 am to 4:30 pm without 30-minute formal lunch break. Working days are from Sunday through Thursday. S/He may be required to work beyond these hours in any emergency situations.
  • Urban living conditions with exposure at times to challenging living conditions.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Salary Range: Tk.40,000/- including all fringe benefits (Monthly) {Depends on Candidate’s minimum and desired education, skills & experience, and other requirements as per Job Description} on three months’ probation period.
