1. Background:
Ensure Protection and Justice through Integrated Approach (EPJIA) is one of the projects of World Concern Bangladesh. World Concern is an International NGO has been working on child rights & education, economic development, sustainable livelihood, capacity building, women empowerment, disaster response and risk reduction programs since 1991. EPJIA project has been intervening in the most vulnerable areas in 7 Upazilas under 7 districts since January 2022 and will continue until December 2024.
EPJIA project focused on three important issues - Child rights, Anti Human Trafficking (AHT), and Sustainable livelihood aimed ‘to transform the lives of vulnerable communities by assisting them to address their multifaceted problems through improving human and social capital.
This training is part of the livelihood enhancement component of the EPJIA project, aimed at empowering marginalized communities, especially women, with vocational skills that can improve their economic conditions. The sewing machine training will provide beneficiaries with the skills necessary to generate income through tailoring and garment production.
2. Objective of the Assignment:
The primary objective of hiring a Sewing Machine Trainer is to transfer skills on ‘Tailoring and Dress Making’ to marginalized women.
The specific objectives are:
- Equip participants with comprehensive sewing skills, including basic and advanced tailoring techniques.
- Ensure that participants are able to independently create garments and other sewn items for both personal and commercial use.
- Provide practical hands-on training sessions that enable participants to develop proficiency in using a variety of sewing machines and techniques.
3. Scope of Work:
The trainer will be responsible for:
Conducting Training:
- Delivering in-person training to 100 participants.
- Developing a tailored curriculum that covers the operation of sewing machines, basic sewing techniques, and advanced tailoring.
- Providing training on Tailoring & Dress Making including taking measurements, pattern cutting, stitching techniques, and quality finishing.
- The training should ensure competency standards as per BETB
Developing and ensuring Training Materials:
- Preparing curriculum, visual aids, and handouts that enhance the learning experience.
- Creating detailed guides on the use and maintenance of sewing machines.
- Ensure all required equipment such as sewing machine, cloth/paper and other required materials for training purposes.
- The application organization/ tailor will manage at least 4 sewing machines in each training for practicing of the participants.
- Arrange an appropriate amount of clothing for the participant's practices (which cost should be mentioned in the budget line)
- Arrange scissors, cloth measuring tape, scale and other related materials according to the need.
- During the training course, the facilitator/ tailoring training master will be responsible for their food accommodation and other requirements.
- World Concern will organize the training value, ensure the participants lunch and tiffin.
Technical Assistance:
- Offering hands-on support during practical sessions.
- Troubleshooting technical issues with sewing machines during training sessions.
Post-Training Follow-up:
Offering post-training mentorship or consultations (if required) to ensure the sustainability of the skills learned.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Assessing participants' skill levels at the start and end of the training program.
- Providing feedback and guidance to each participant to improve their skills.
- Maintaining records of attendance, progress, and performance.
4. Deliverables:
A detailed training curriculum and schedule.
Training materials, including manuals and guides.
Weekly progress reports on participants' skill acquisition.
Final training report, including evaluation of each participant’s proficiency.
5. Duration of Assignment:
The training program will be completed in 30 days ensuring the marginal competency standards of BTEB.

7. Required Qualifications and Experience:
- The institution should have the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in Tailoring & Dress Making.
- At least 5 years of experience in delivering sewing machine training.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining different types of sewing machines (e.g., industrial, home use).
- Experience working with diverse groups, especially vulnerable and marginalized communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop training materials and deliver both theoretical and practical sessions.
- Previous experience working in NGO/livelihood development projects is an asset.

9. Reporting:
The Sewing Machine Trainer will report directly to EPJIA Manager and will work closely with the project team.

The trainer must adhere to the ethical guidelines set by World Concern Bangladesh, ensuring the safety, dignity, and confidentiality of all participants throughout the training.

13. Payment and Compensation:
The payment will be made in two phases, the first payment will be transferred after the MoU signing and the rest of the payment will be transferred after the satisfactory completion of enter course upon the completion of deliverables as outlined in this ToR. The payment will be made through A/C Payee Cheque or bank transfer in favor of the institution's name.
The financial proposal should clearly identify item wise summary of cost with a detailed breakdown. The budget should not contain income tax as a separate head. However, VAT can be mentioned in the budget as per government regulation. World Concern Bangladesh will deduct VAT and TAX proportionately and share the document.
