We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Programme Officer’ under Climate Resilience Programme for our country office in Bangladesh.

Job purpose

This position is responsible for dealing with sustainable WASH for target communities in climate-vulnerable areas of Bangladesh. This role is accountable for upholding responsibilities to achieve the aims of the Climate Resilience and related programmes, departmental and organizational components of WaterAid Bangladesh. Based on the merit of the applications and level of expertise, the position will be offered as ‘Programme Officer’.

Key responsibilities

As a member of the programme team, this role will take the responsibility and contribute to (but not necessarily limited into):

  • Play an active role in achieving objectives, strengthening process and progress monitoring of relevant projects
  • Pursue knowledge management and reporting process of the programme portfolio and relevant projects
  • Develop and update modules for programme activities and interventions
  • Support partner NGOs in planning and budgeting; follow up the progress of programme implementation and provide necessary guidance to be on track ensuring quality of work
  • Play an active role to lead social mobilization, content development, organize and facilitate capacity building events for partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Support in promoting project activities in line with national and global climate activism/ agenda
  • Support in climate advocacy in collaboration with partner NGOs at different level in accordance with organization’s goals as appropriate
  • Explore and initiate potential research/ study based on the project learning
  • Work in coordination with different team members to maximize the results

Requisite qualifications and experience

  • Post-Graduation degree from Social Science/ Environmental Sciences & Management/ relevant subject along with minimum two year’s demonstrated working experience in the relevant field, preferably in development sector
    However, for excellent academic attainment from reputed institution in country/abroad and/or fast professional track record, the above conditions may be relaxed
  • Excellent reporting/ writing skills in both Bengali and English is mandatory
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka as required is mandatory
  • Experience and knowledge on WASH, climate change and adaptation is preferred
  • Experience of programme monitoring, and evaluation will be an asset
  • Experience in designing or conducting research/ study will be preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines in a very busy environment
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organizational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values
Reportable to : Programme Lead – Climate Resilience Programme
Contract Tenure : Fixed Term, till 31 March 2026, with a possibility of extension
Workstation : Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working Hours : Full time (05 days in a week, minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Salary & Benefits : Monthly gross salary BDT 61,734 with admissible benefits (Festival bonus, provident fund, gratuity, life insurance for self, health insurance scheme for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. as per policy)
