We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and self-driven individual for the position of Project Coordinator – Universal access for our country office in Bangladesh.

Job purpose

The Universal Access (UA) Programme of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to demonstrate a model for universal, safe and sustainable WASH access in communities, institutions and public domains and replicated it to amplify change. The Project Coordinator for the WaterAid Bangladesh Universal Access (UA) Programme is responsible for implementing different thematic projects to improve environmental health and resilient WASH for urban poor in cities and municipalities through resilient WASH services, effective coordination with various government institutions, and system strengthening initiatives. The position also entails strategic guidance, project designing, operational planning, budgeting, monitoring, and compliance checking for quality programme delivery. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for influencing policy change and finding relevant advocacy agendas and building capacities of relevant actors at all levels.

We are looking for a dynamic, committed and self-driven individual for the role of Project Coordinator to facilitate achieving desired goals along with assigned responsibilities under the portfolio of UA Programme.

Key responsibilities

Programme implementation and planning: Manage thematic projects, ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects, prepare RFPs/ToRs, facilitate construction/renovation of WASH facilities, contribute to developing new project proposals, and ensure projects designing, planning, and budgeting are in line with organizational and donor requirements.

Advocacy, Coordination & Networking: Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, identify advocacy agendas and work with authorities to implement system-strengthening interventions, advocate for and facilitate networking and alliance buildings, represent WaterAid to different audiences, and organize events and campaigns.

Capacity building: Build the capacity of partners and teams to manage and implement projects in line with WaterAid's and national policies and strategies, facilitate the building of institutional capacity of respective city corporations, municipalities, and others and build team capacities related to quality project and award management, donor compliance, and operational excellence.

Reporting and communications: Ensure timely and quality reporting from partners and to donors. Facilitate the knowledge management process for the project.

Staff Management: Conduct staff appraisals and reviews and support the professional growth of team members. Create a culture of inclusive and equitable working, collaboration, and common ambition.

Financial Management: Facilitate the planning and budgeting process for partner organizations and oversee the disbursement of funds. Monitor and track budget and expenditure and provide feedback to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Others: Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues, partners, communities, and stakeholders. Ensure programme delivery is gender responsive and socially inclusive. Act as the 'Safeguarding Focal Point (SFP)' for respective projects and ensure that safeguarding best practices are followed.

These responsibilities are subject to change upon reviewing by the line manager from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/ PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Master's degree in Management, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a relevant subject; or B.Sc in Civil Engineering (with good professional track record, this condition may be relaxed).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, of which at least 7 years should be in a lead role of project management.
  • Experience of managing projects through partnership with national NGOs, especially in an urban setting is desirable.
  • Experience working with public service providers, private sectors, and City Corporations is an advantage.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and writing skills in both Bangla and English.
  • Ability to provide capacity-building support to partner NGOs and government representatives and supervise the project interventions.
  • Experience or good understanding of project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working.
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits.

Contract Tenure : till 31 March 2026, Fixed Term with a possibility of extension

Working Hours : Full time (05 days in a week, minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Salary & Benefits : Monthly gross salary is BDT 123,600, flexible for deserving candidate corresponding to higher credentials.
