Currently WaterAid is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of Senior Officer, Gender & Knowledge Management for its country office in Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities includes (not necessarily limited to):

As a member of a high-performing team, the incumbent shall:

  • Take the initiative of mainstreaming gender in the design and delivery of WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) initiatives across the organisations and subsequently, capacitate the implementing partner organisations of WaterAid 
  • Ensure gender equality criteria and gender transformative approaches are well integrated into the programmes and projects at the country level
  • Capture, document the gender perspectives of the work carried out by WaterAid at communities, institutions, public and policy domains, and initiate dissemination of such learning to relevant audience 
  • Identify, document, package and disseminate key lessons learned and best practices and innovations (‘knowledge’) at project, programme, and country level.
  • Analyse existing knowledge management needs and provide support in integrating knowledge management into programmes and projects, at country level
  • Lead and facilitate the development and implementation of knowledge driven programming, continuous learning, and evidence-based decision-making processes within WaterAid Bangladesh and partner organisations.
  • Conduct field visit as required to collect primary data for producing knowledge products. 
  • Provide capacity support to programmes and partner organisations in identifying, synthesizing and writing knowledge pieces.
  • Support to develop policy briefs on Gender and WASH, as well as other knowledge products from the results of MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) coordinated/managed evaluations/studies as required.
  • Maintain and strengthen the organisation’s digital repository of knowledge products to ensure they are stored in a safe and effective, and, where required confidential, manner.
  • Develop high quality ToR for conducting studies/assessments and hire/assist to hire external consultants compatible with the ToR. Guide external consultants so that organisational aims and objectives are fully met as per expectations. Ensure that all parts of the research/studies are follows a high standard.
  • Identify and initiate small-scale mixed-method research in distinguished thematic areas with internal capacity, where and as appropriate. Contribute to developing data collection tools in the organisation’s mobile based data collection platform (mWater), data analysis, report writing, disseminating key findings with relevant internal and external stakeholders via communication materials, publication etc.
  • Facilitate and support a strong learning and knowledge sharing community around gender-transformative practices amongst delivery partners.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Requisite qualifications and experience:

Education and experience: Masters or equivalent degree in relevant discipline. Minimum of 05 (five) years’ experience with demonstrated experience in gender, knowledge management and learning with reputed organisations, preferably INGOs, donor agencies or international organisations is required. The years of experience may be relaxed for candidates with exceptional credentials and/or fast professional growth track.

Knowledge: Knowledge gender perspectives of development discourse along with qualitative and quantitative research methods; study methodology, Tools for capturing knowledge and learnings, MEL techniques and tools,and application of computer software (MS Excel, SPSS, GIS, data visualization software) and monitoring devices is essential.

Skill: Excellent analysis and analytical writing quality is crucial; ability to present study findings with excellent data visualization techniques, and electronic data archiving is required. Good communication skills and experience to work with partners and donors; pro-activeness, positive attitude and professional integrity is required as well.

Competencies: Must be a team player with mutual trust and understanding in a mixed team, self-motivated, problem solver, demonstrates gender and cultural awareness, effective communicator, capable to work under extreme pressure, ability to prioritize works and meet deadlines. Ready to undertake extensive field visits as required.

Reportable to - Manager-Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
Working hours - Full time (05 days and minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Contract tenure - Fixed term for 02 Years with a possibility of extension
Salary & benefits - Monthly initial gross salary is BDT 87000/-; may be flexible for deserving candidate corresponding to higher skill, credentials, competency and experience; Benefits include provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, life insurance for self, health insurance for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. as per policy provision.
