WaterAid is looking for a deserving, dynamic, passionate and self-driven applicants for the role of ‘Young Professional’ for its country programme in Bangladesh under Communications Team, who does not have any work experience but is willing to build up career in the development field with focus on ICT and Digital Development.
‘Young Professional’ (YP) does not mean a ‘staff’ employed by WaterAid Bangladesh, this is a special programme through which WaterAid provides adequate support and opportunity through one year apprenticeship to the Bangladeshi young, fresh and talented aspirants having good academic background so that they can groom them up in the organizational environment, obtain relevant experience and can prepare themselves to contribute professionally to any organizational set-up.
Criteria for application:
- Fresh graduate in computer science or engineering background with excellent academic result (CGPA 3 and above, no second class or CGPA below 60% throughout academic career).
- Command over some or all of the following: RxJava, Dagger2, jUnit 4, mockito, Robolectric, espresso, Retrofit, Fresco, Flutter, Dart, React Native, Java, Kotlin, Support Library Packages, Jetpack libraries, Google In-App Billing, Google Play Store, and App Store Management
- Deep knowledge of Social Networking, APIs, Protocols, and Data Models
- Concept of SQLite Database. A good understanding of database programming is required
- Concept on XML Parsing JSON Parsing
- Concept of Android API levels
- Concept or good command on CMS development
- Bangladeshi national, age maximum 26 years as on 01 November 2022
- Freshers preferred
Scope of work
The primary purpose of the Young Professional (YP), ICT and Digital Development (ICTDD) is to manage, monitor, and support development of the plethora of WaterAid Bangladesh’s ICT and digital portfolio in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. The YP-ICTDD will get the opportunity to contribute to the development and upkeep of Android and iOS applications, deployment and version control of said applications, in addition to tertiary technology applications and aiding concept development. The YP is expected to be part of the wider Policy & Advocacy team collectively working towards making clean water and decent sanitation accessible for all, along with ensuring adoption of good hygiene practices. We believe robust and creative application of ICTs and digital technologies can help us attain that. Therefore, the YP will be presented with challenges to increase our technology footprint and being a critical architect to fashion an evolving ecosystem of digital products to improve WASH outcomes.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Develop a sleuth of digital applications – focusing on Android and iOS applications, web applications, content management systems, and different forms of management information systems.
- Design application prototypes, architecture, visual and shortform SRS, and support development of frontend interfaces and in-app animations (Lottie).
- Maintain source code, codebase and transform legacy codes to enterprise-grade, clean codes.
- Maintain version control and robust documentation and repositories.
- Optimise existing applications to improve responsiveness and usability.
- Work with WaterAid’s IT manager and retainer on server access, hosting, and maintaining continuous uptime.
- Coordinate with and manage work of application development consultants.
- Undertake specific work as assigned by the line manager and/or WaterAid Bangladesh authority as per need of the organisation.
These responsibilities are to be reviewed from time-to-time.
Engagement tenure: One (01) year
Workstation: Country Office, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working hour: Full time (05 days in a week with minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Monthly Payment: BDT 30,000 (consolidated)
Cell phone allowance: BDT 1,000/- per month
Festival allowance: BDT 30,000/- for the completed year, given on a pro rata basis if engagement is less than a year.
