The Climate Resilience Programme of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to improve access to water and sanitation services with promotion of safe hygiene practices among the targeted underprivileged people living in different climate vulnerable areas in Bangladesh. Under the interventions, WaterAid also works with schools and healthcare centers in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services including influencing respective local government institute (LGIs), youth, utility agencies, relevant actors, civil society organisation, and stakeholders as appropriate.

The position is accountable for upholding responsibilities to achieve the aims of the respective Programme, Departmental and Organizational components of WaterAid Bangladesh. WaterAid Bangladesh is looking for dynamic, committed and self-driven individual for the role of ‘Project Coordinator’; project titled “Stop the Stigma: Empowering dreams of menstruating girls in Bangladeshunder the Climate Resilience Programme.

The individual will work under direct supervision of the Project Manager-Climate Resilience Programme of WaterAid Bangladesh Office.

Key Responsibilities: As a member of the programme team, this role will take the responsibility and contribute to (but not necessarily limited to):

  • Support the design and delivery of WaterAid Bangladesh's climate and disaster-related projects/programming by working directly with partner organisations, with a focus on safe hygiene behavior and practices.
  • Explore ways to mainstream CCA, DRR, national policies / strategies / activities on WASH and climate, climate advocacy at local level and innovative system delivery approaches in programme activities.
  • Produce training materials, guideline, documents and contents to mainstream all the climate resilience programme-implemented hygiene activities following appropriate and effective modalities, for multiple stakeholders, i. e. adolescent girls/young women, SMCs, PTAs, SCs, CCs and other entities.
  • Build capacity of partner NGOs in the areas of climate resilient programme management with a focus on hygiene, capacity building and community mobilization initiatives. Engagement of local government with a view to improving WASH governance will be an important area of work.
  • Add on the Climate Resilience (CR) programme’s initiatives of capacitating health, education and livelihood sectors by introducing climate change-resilient WASH practices
  • Develop strategies based on WaterAid’s global goal, aim and on SDG 6
  • Pursue knowledge management and reporting processes
  • Establish strong community organization, coordination and partnership with other sector actors including the local government institutions to establish an accountable system and organized modality of tasks
  • Facilitate the activities of partner NGOs to ensure effective implementation of the programme and monitor the progress of projects accordingly
  • Improve the capacity of partner NGOs in the areas of programme management and implementation of hygiene activities by mainstreaming as well as improving WaterAid's existing practices
  • Ensure grants compliance along with organizational policies and procedures

Requisite qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree preferably in Environmental Science, Social Sciences and Development Studies or relevant subject. For excellent academic attainment and or fast professional track record, this condition may be relaxed.
  • Minimum 07 years of demonstrated work experience in the relevant field.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines in a very busy environment.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, communications and writing skills both in Bangla & in English.
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach.
  • Ability to provide capacity building support to partner NGOs and supervise the project interventions.
  • Knowledge on Menstrual Hygiene Management is crucial.
  • Experience and Knowledge on WASH, local WASH governance and climate adaptation is desired.
  • Experience or good understanding of programme monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience and knowledge on climate change, disaster management and disaster risk reduction are crucial
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organisational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values
  • Demonstrate interest in and awareness of issues related to development, social justice and climate change
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits at project areas of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat & Rajshahi

Salary & benefits : Monthly gross salary is BDT 120,764.
