WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB) is looking for a dynamic, committed and self-driven individual for the role of ‘Team Leader – Technical Assistance’ for an anticipated project. The individual will work under the Programme Department for implementing this project in the 18 selected districts. The individual will be the key person responsible for leading, managing and successful implementation of the project.

Along with working on the capacity building of the partner organizations (POs) who will work with PKSF, this project will also focus on supporting the POs for selecting the local WASH entrepreneurs (LEs) who will work at the household level. The partner organisatons are Microfinance Institutions operating in multiple districts of Bangladesh. Developing training materials for the LEs, developing capacity building manuals for women LEs, building on the skill set of women LEs, developing orientation guidelines and follow up support to the old/ trained LEs and developing facilitators’ guideline for the PO staff for using behaviour change communication (BCC) materials are some of the key objectives of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

The Team Leader will be responsible (but not necessarily limited into) for the following:

  • Overall management of the assignment related with planning, team mobilisation in implementation and preparation of reports
  • All deliverables under the contract in a timely manner with minimum acceptable standards
  • Guide the team to develop training manuals and guidelines for the relevant stakeholders as per requirement of the project
  • Make sure the printing of facilitation guideline on BCC session conduction is in place
  • Ensure smooth and close cooperation with PKSF- Project Management Unit (PMU), their POs and DPHE when needed
  • Compile and write periodic reports for PKSF as per the agreement
  • Ensure orientation of the staff of POs and conduction of project orientation course for the PO staff
  • Coordinate with POs to provide field support to the POs on water, sanitation, sanitary napkin promotion, LE selection and BCC session conduction
  • Ensuring conduction of orientation for the old LEs
  • Take initiatives in preparing quality knowledge documents for capturing learning from this project

Requisite qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in any discipline, preferably in Economics, Finance, Public Administration, Sociology, Social Work or Social Welfare
  • Minimum 10 (ten) years of work experience in the areas of social development, microfinance, WASH with reputed national/ international organisations
  • Relevant experience on capacity building and IEC/BCC material development
  • In depth knowledge in WASH sector, various actors, WASH enterprises, linkages with microfinance and markets
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka
  • Having at least one contract as Team Leader in the development sector will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated capacity in strong professional writing skill and reports writing in English is essential
  • Proven coordination skills involving different teams of the project and relevant stakeholders is crucial.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working
  • Ability to ensure timely output from other team members within tight deadlines in a very busy environment.
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach
  • Demonstrated respect for gender, diversity, organisational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organisational values

Contract tenure : Fixed Term for 02 years
