WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB) is looking for a dynamic, committed and self-driven individual for the role of ‘Programme Officer – Capacity Building’ for an anticipated project. The individual will work under the Programme Department for implementing this project in the 18 selected districts. The individual will be the key person responsible for leading, managing and successful implementation of the project.
Along with working on the capacity building of the partner organizations (POs) who will work with PKSF, this project will also focus on supporting the POs for selecting the local WASH entrepreneurs (LEs) who will work at the household level. The partner organisatons are Microfinance Institutions operating in multiple districts of Bangladesh. Developing training materials for the LEs, developing capacity building manuals for women LEs, building on the skill set of women LEs, developing orientation guidelines and follow up support to the old/ trained LEs and developing facilitators’ guideline for the PO staff for using behaviour change communication (BCC) materials are some of the key objectives of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Technical Assistance Team, The Capacity Building Specialist will perform the following (but not necessarily limited to) responsibilities:
- Develop training materials for local entrepreneurs who will work for water and sanitation facility improvement and promotion of menstrual hygiene management including sanitary napkin.
- Develop implementation and facilitation guidelines for conducting awareness raising session with credit groups to change behaviour towards safe WASH
- Prepare a detailed action plan including timeline in consultation with relevant teams/organisations to conduct training/ orientation courses with different stakeholders and disseminate accordingly
- Organise and conduct staff orientation and capacity building training for the LEs at upazilla/ district level
- Conduct project orientation courses for the PO staff
- Visit project areas to assist POs in smooth and timely implementation of project activities with quality
- Coordinate with POs to provide field support to them on water, sanitation, sanitary napkin promotion, LE selection and BCC session conduction
- Prepare quarterly plans and assist TL in compiling and writing quarterly and completion reports for PKSF as per the agreement.
- Guide and support POs in carrying out field implementation through in a timely manner.
Requisite qualifications and experience:
- Master’s degree in any discipline
- Minimum 05 (five) years of work experience as training officer on microfinance including WASH components
- Proven experience on development of training curriculum, manuals and IEC materials.
- Have extensive knowledge in microfinance and financing in WASH enterprises
- Experience of hard work at rural areas with a positive attitude for frequent traveling and staying for a long time in the field is crucial
- Must have good communication knowledge and facilitation skills to conduct training/ orientation at local and national level using different training methods
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and communications skills in both Bangla and English is necessary
- Ability to ensure timely output within tight deadlines in a very busy environment is essential.
- High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach.
- Demonstrated respect for gender, diversity, organisational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organisational values.
