The country programme of WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB) is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Project Officer’ for the projects primarily targeting the readymade garment (RMG) factories and workers dwelling places/ communities. The position is accountable for effective delivery of the activities to achieve the aims of multiple projects under WaterAid Bangladesh with particular focus on the WASH for Industrial Urban.

The Industrial Urban/Industrial WASH projects of WaterAid Bangladesh aim to improve access to water and sanitation services and promote safe hygiene practices among the RMG workers at their workplaces and communities in different areas of Bangladesh. Under these project interventions, WaterAid also aims to work with the schools and healthcare centers of the project areas to improve their WASH facilities and services including act on influencing respective local government institutions (LGIs), authorities and other stakeholders as appropriate in the project context and locations. Key Responsibilities: As a member of the programme team, this role will take the responsibility and contribute to (but not necessarily limited into):

  • Play an active role in achieving objectives, strengthening process and progress monitoring of assigned projects
  • Pursue knowledge management and reporting exercise of the assigned projects to track the performance of different projects and capture critical learning through documentation, case studies, and reports  
  • Design and organise different hygiene behaviour change events, campaigns and support partner NGOs in the implementation process
  • Track global/regional/national level developments/updates on hygiene behaviour change issues, context, identify the scope of work within the relevant projects and participate in project development exercise with members form other units
  • Support social mobilisation, behavior change, and community strengthening mechanism
  • Facilitate the process to assess training needs, design curriculum, develop relevant materials and facilitate capacity building events for partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Follow up the progress of programme implementation and provide necessary guidance to partner NGOs for ensuring the quality of work
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with factory management, local government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders for smooth implementation of the project interventions
  • Assist and support Programme Management Team in achieving project deliverables by maintaining frequent coordination with the implementing partners (NGOs) at the field level and other relevant stakeholders

Requisite qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree preferably in Social Science Discipline/Public Health, or relevant subject
  • Minimum 03 years of work experience in the relevant field with a reputed national/international NGO/corporate sector
  • Experience in developing training curriculum/module, materials on hygiene behaviour change and capacity building issues, and ability to organise and facilitate capacity building events for partner staffs and other stakeholders
  • Experience or good understanding of programme monitoring and evaluation
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines in a very busy environment
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills both in Bangla & in English
  • Strong professional writing skill
  • Adequate computer skills on MS Office and other software application
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in a team approach
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organisational culture, promote safeguarding and uphold organisational values
  • Demonstrated interest in and awareness of issues related to the development and social justice
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka

Contract tenure : Fixed Term, for 01 year, with a possibility of extension
