The country programme of WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB) is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Programme Assistant’ for the Programme Department implementing WASH projects for target communities in different areas in Bangladesh. The position is accountable for effective delivery of the activities to achieve the aims of the respective Programme components of WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB).

The projects of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to improve access to water and sanitation services and promotion of safe hygienic practices among the targeted underprivileged people living in different geographical context/ areas in Bangladesh. Under the  project intervention, WaterAid also works with the schools and healthcare centers in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services including act on influencing respective local government institute (LGIs), utility agencies, stakeholders, relevant actors, civil society organization etc., as appropriate, in the respective locations.

Key Responsibilities: As a member of the programme team, this role will take the responsibility and contribute to (but not necessarily limited into):

  • Play an active role in achieving objectives, strengthening process and progress monitoring of relevant projects
  • Pursue knowledge management and reporting process of the programme portfolio to track the performance of different projects and capture critical learning through case studies and reports  
  • Support partner NGOs in planning and budgeting; follow up the progress of programme implementation and provide necessary guidance to be on track, ensuring quality of work
  • Carry out analysis of different elements of projects/programmes in determining the performance, potential impact and inform future project design
  • Assist and support programme department in achieving project deliverables by maintaining frequent coordination with the implementing partners (NGOS) at the field level and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support Programme Management team with furnishing ToRs, analysis of contracts and agreements signed with various donors and development partners
  • Assist in capacity building and awareness raising training, campaign, workshop facilitation and ensure proper documentation.

Requisite qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree preferably in Development Studies, Public Health, Urban Planning, Environmental Science or relevant subject.
  • Minimum 01 year of work experience in the relevant field.
  • Knowledge and experience on urban planning, WASH, COVID-19 response will be an advantage
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines in a very busy environment
  • Ability to provide capacity building support to Partner NGOs and track performance
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communications skills both in Bangla & in English
  • Strong professional writing skill
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organizational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values
  • Demonstrated interest in and awaren ess of issues related to development, emergency response and social justice
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka

Salary & benefits
:

Monthly gross salary range between BDT 39,000 - 42,000, flexible corresponding to the skill, competencies and experiences; Other benefits include provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, life insurance for self, hospitalisation insurance scheme for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc.
