WaterAid Bangladesh is an international, non-Government, not-for-profit organization, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation and is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Manager -Monitoring and Evaluation’ in Bangladesh for its country office in Bangladesh.

The position represents the lead managerial role for inspiring, coordinating and managing the overall monitoring and evaluation activities of WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB); track progress and impact and contribute towards improvement in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning goal of the organization. The incumbent is expected to add professional values in the overall M&E and Learning outputs of the organization with special focus on efficiency, quality and culture. To meet the growing demand for result based monitoring and reporting compliance, s/he, in addition to regular monitoring role, will take special care of base line studies and outcome level monitoring and reporting. The position will require substantial field visits for project monitoring and partners’ capacity building for effective computer/mobile phone supported real time monitoring, database management, and reporting including documentation of case studies. S/he is expected to explore and make use of advanced technical advantages related to online system, computer software and database towards strengthening monitoring, evaluation and reporting capacity of WAB and its partners. S/he is also expected to contribute in knowledge management and to promote efficient learning and dissemination practice by WaterAid in Bangladesh.

Person Specification:

Education:

  • Masters’ or equivalent degree in relevant discipline
  • Applicants having advanced degree from recognized overseas institution would be an advantage. Fellowship award, research credential and publication in reputed journal considered as extra academic accomplishment

 

Experience:

  • At least 10 (ten) years’ professional experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and knowledge-based activities of which at least 06 (six) years in the management position with a reputed international or national NGOs
  • For excellent academic accomplishment as stipulated earlier; and/or first-rate professional track record, the years of experience may be relaxed
  • Demonstrated expertise of leading and managing a highly competent team as well as excellent people management
  • Expertise in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing monitoring and evaluation and/or performance monitoring plans of the organization. Exposure and practical experience of working in water supply, sanitation and hygiene sector will be preferred

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of technical, social and institutional issues relating to water supply, sanitation and hygiene
  • Conceptual understanding of how to manage effective monitoring and evaluation functions in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Practical knowledge on dealing with MIS and software driven various database systems including application of statistical tools
  • Adequate knowledge on research methodology and confidence on learning dissemination and knowledge management

Skills:  

  • Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skills in English
  • Good conceptual, analytical and research skills
  • Good representational skills to represent own organisation and department at national and international forum
  • Computer skills on MS office (word, excel, power point)
  • Excellence in the use of Access and SPSS or any other data management software would be an added value

  • Excellent leadership qualities, team building spirit and problem-solving/decision making skills; should be able to draw confidence and support from others
  • Must be a person who is self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and capacity to understand and walk with people from all walks of life
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organizational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values
  • Able to plan, prioritise, organise self & others and to meet deadline working in pressure

Reportable to : Director-Fundraising and Learning
Work station : Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working hours : Full time (05 days in a week- minimum 37.5 hours per week)  
Contract tenure : Fixed term, 02 (two) years with a possibility of extension
Salary & benefits
:

Monthly gross salary is around BDT 171,300; higher salary may be considered for highly deserving candidate corresponding to skill, competencies, experiences and professional track record.
