WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB) is an international, non-Government, not-for-profit organization, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation and is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Project Officer’ for a project dealing with WASH for target communities in different areas in Bangladesh.

The position is accountable for effective delivery of the activities to achieve the aims of the respective Programme components of WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB).

The projects of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to improve access to water and sanitation services and promotion of safe hygienic practices among the targeted underprivileged people living in different geographical context/ areas in Bangladesh. Under the  project intervention, WaterAid also works with the schools and healthcare centers in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services including act on influencing respective local government institute (LGIs), utility agencies, stakeholders, relevant actors, civil society organization etc., as appropriate, in the respective locations.

Key Responsibilities: As a member of the programme team, this role will take the responsibility and contribute to (but not necessarily limited into):

  • Play an active role in achieving objectives, strengthening process and progress monitoring of relevant projects
  • Pursue knowledge management and reporting process of the programme portfolio and relevant projects
  • Support partner NGOs in planning and budgeting; follow up the progress of programme implementation and provide necessary guidance to be on track ensuring quality of work
  • Support in promoting project activities in line with national and global climate activism
  • Build and maintain strong partnership with local utility agencies, local government and other relevant stakeholders/actors for influencing them for pro-poor services and establishment of accountable systems
  • Play strong role to support the organization in proceeding with current advocacy agenda, especially in contextual portfolio
  • Active role to lead social mobilisation, content development, organise and facilitate capacity building events for partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Support and guide in climate advocacy in collaboration partner NGOs at local level in accordance with organization’s goals and guide them as appropriate
  • Support in the preparation of reports for submission to different audiences in time

Requisite qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree preferably in Social/Environmental Sciences and Development Studies or relevant subject.
  • Minimum 05 years work experience in the relevant field. For excellent academic attainment and or fast professional track record, this condition may be relaxed
  • Ability to provide capacity building support to Partner NGOs and supervise the programme interventions
  • Experience or good understanding of programme monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience and knowledge on climate change, disaster management and disaster risk reduction are crucial
  • Aptitude for innovation, to identify and explore new methods of working
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines in a very busy environment
  • High level of pro-activeness and creativity, self-motivated and positive attitude to work in team approach
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communications skills both in Bangla & in English
  • Strong professional writing skill
  • Demonstrate respect for gender, diversity, organizational cultural and promote safeguarding and uphold organizational values
  • Demonstrated interest in and awareness of issues related to development and social justice
  • Experience and Knowledge on WASH and sector is desired
  • Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka
Reportable to : Project Manager
Working hours : Full time (minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Work station : Dhaka, Bangladesh
Contract tenure : Fixed Term, for around 03 years, with possibility of extension
Salary & benefits
: Monthly gross salary range around BDT 81,000- 91,000, flexible corresponding to the skill, competencies and experiences; Other benefits include provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, life insurance for self, hospitalisation insurance scheme for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc.
