Terms of Reference (ToR) for Hiring Consultant for Post Environmental Impact Assessment of RO points

Introduction
Save the Children with national partner Uttaran, is implementing a project “The Satkhira Resilient Water Systems Pilot, Bangladesh” The objective of this project is to provide communities with access to clean water for domestic and drinking purposes. Using locally recognized techniques, this initiative also aims to restore surface water and establish clean water sources for the communities. The major objective is to create an efficient water management system with the active involvement of local communities, particularly the water management committees, women user groups, youth and local actors.

As a part of the project, five Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification facilities were installed in Satkhira district, Khulna province in 2023. Save the Children will conduct a Post Environmental Impact Assessment (Post-EIA) of those water facilities. This assessment aims to evaluate the wastewater discharge practices of the RO systems and their environmental and community impact. The findings will support the development of cost-effective, context-specific mitigation strategies.

Objectives of the Assignment
The objective of this consultancy is to conduct an independent Post-EIA of the RO points to ensure their operation aligns with environmental standards and community health safety. The findings will support decision-making and the formulation of practical mitigation measures.
