Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure the preparation of policies, SOPs, circulars, and instructions related to legal issues with the collaboration of the management committee, and board for the smooth operation of UFIL.

Policy and Compliance Unit

  • Ensure the analysis of the legal merits of any suit or case of any loan based on existing documents and place them before management.

Documentation and Contracts Unit

  • Ensure the timely collection of the RJSCF Search Report.
  • Ensure collection of legal vetting of UFIL (other than lending issues).
  • Ensure to review the panel law firm and survey company periodically.

Reporting Unit

  • Ensure a regulatory report is submitted on time.

Litigation and Recovery Unit

  • Ensure the perfection of the legal notice, complaint, and petition, along with all evidence.
  • Ensure to reply to all the petitions at the High Court, Special Court against UFIL, or filed by UFIL.
  • Ensure to comply with any other requirements required by management or the court of law to protect the interests of UFIL.
  • Ensure monitoring of the steps of all suit/case dates and ensure perfect steps through collaborating with the panel lawyer.
  • Ensure good communication with the Law enforcement authorities to protect the interests of UFIL.
  • Ensure monitoring of the court and find out unusual issues (if any) through proper court watch.
  • Ensure to collect legal vetting, title search reports, and survey reports against proposed or existing collateral for the loan facility.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as and when entrusted by Management/Board. 

Educational Requirements:

  • The candidate must hold a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from a recognized university. A minimum of one First Class/Division or equivalent GPA/CGPA in any academic examination is required. Third Class/Division in any academic stage will not be accepted.
  • Certification by the Bangladesh Bar Council is mandatory.
  • Bar-at-Law or other specialized higher degrees in legal studies will be considered as an added advantage.

Experience Requirements:

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 12 years of experience working in the legal department or legal team of a bank or financial institution, along with at least 12 years of experience handling relevant legal cases;

Additional Requirements:

  • The candidate must have expertise and experience in the Banking Companies Act, as well as in various laws related to business, commerce, and banking, including contract law, property transfer law, money lending court law, anti-money laundering law, and other applicable laws in force in the country. Educational/Experience/Additional requirements may be relaxed for really a deserving candidate, depending on the decision of the Board/Management.
