U.S. Embassy Dhaka is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Press and Media Coordinator/Translator (Public Engagement Assistant- Press and Media).

The Press and Media Coordinator/Translator monitors Bangladeshi press and media coverage of issues of importance to the United States. Translates a wide array of public materials, including but not limited to press releases, media notices, speeches, presentations, social media content, exhibition materials, and promotional materials. Identifies and advises Mission leadership on strategies for promoting accurate, balanced Bangladeshi press and media coverage of U.S. foreign policy and American interests, correcting misinformation and countering disinformation. Builds productive relationships with press and media professionals in person and online. Participates in shaping the tone of Bangla-language material used in messaging across platforms. Compiles, produces, and assists with translations of regular summaries of press and media coverage, including its impact; provides verbal and written reports to Mission leadership and as required, to the Department of State (DOS) on Mission media engagement. The Press and Media Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Press and Media Specialist or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee and has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A university degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, or English is required. (You must attach a copy of your certificates along with your application form.)
  • Three (3) years of experience is required in a media outlet, international organization, government, or the private sector. Must have experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or public affairs.
  • Fluent (speaking/reading/writing) in English and Bangla is required. This may be tested.
