Job Purpose |
The Sound System and Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sound systems, stage lighting, and electrical infrastructure across the university. The role ensures smooth technical support for academic and non-academic events while maintaining electrical safety and efficiency within university buildings. |
Key Responsibilities |
Sound System Operation & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and operate sound reinforcement systems for university events, including seminars, conferences, cultural programs, and convocations.
- Set up and maintain microphones, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, and other audio equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve sound issues such as feedback, distortion, or connectivity problems.
- Regularly inspect, test, and upgrade audio-visual equipment to ensure peak performance.
Stage Lighting & Event Technical Support
- Set up and operate stage lighting equipment for various university functions.
- Adjust lighting angles, brightness, and effects to enhance presentations and performances.
- Coordinate with event organizers to meet specific audio-visual and lighting requirements.
Electrical System Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, power outlets, and lighting fixtures in classrooms, offices, and auditoriums.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of backup power systems, including UPS and generators.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components, switches, and circuit breakers.
Technical Support for Classrooms & Auditoriums
- Ensure proper functioning of PA systems, projectors, and smart classroom audio-visual setups.
- Provide on-site support for faculty and students in operating AV and multimedia equipment.
- Collaborate with the IT and engineering teams to integrate and maintain modern learning technologies.
Safety Compliance & Equipment Management
- Ensure all electrical and sound system installations adhere to safety codes and university policies.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs conducted, and equipment inventory.

Qualification & Experience |
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum SSC and Trade Course Pass. Diploma or certification in Sound Engineering, Audio-Visual Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field will get advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in sound system operation, stage lighting, and electrical maintenance.
- Experience working in educational institutions, auditoriums, or event management setups is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with modern AV equipment, PA systems, and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
Age:
Age between 22 to 30 years.
Core Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of audio-visual, stage lighting equipment & electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve sound, lighting and electrical issues quickly.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with event organizers and technical staff.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
