Background
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has been ranked among the Top 50 World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) Ranking for Innovation and Creativity in 2020. The Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) at ULAB is a leading university-based research center that has been ranked 39 out of 50, for its projects and programming. CES conducts research and projects on business, startups, economy, financial markets, and social issues such as promotion of diversity, tolerance, and pluralism.
Objective & Responsibilities
The Project Manager at CES will be responsible for implementing a donor-funded project. The donor is a prestigious overseas donor that funds only two entities in Bangladesh, ULAB being one of them. The project activities that Project Manager will oversee will include:
- Promotion through outreach activities of the ULAB Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) on diversity, tolerance, and pluralism. This MOOC has already been developed by CES. The project manager will develop a plan and implement that plan to publicize the MOOC in universities outside of Bangladesh through workshops and lectures.
- The Project Manager will also arrange interactive networking events and community building sessions with MOOC participants.
- The Project Manager will implement the ongoing Diversity Fellowship by keeping in touch with selected Fellows, connecting them to suitable mentors from civil society leaders, promoting the activities of the Fellows, and ensuring successful completion and documentation of the Fellowship.
- This will entail drafting suitable knowledge and visual materials to describe the fellowship, coming up with a plan to promote the fellowship through newspaper articles, press releases, webinars and facebook marketing.
- The Project Manager will oversee the activities of the ULAB Diversity Club at ULAB ensuring active student engagement with the club, liaising with other popular clubs at ULAB.
- He/she will organize a Bilateral Student Exchange Program with select institutions in Delhi, India. This may involve traveling with a contingent from ULAB to Delhi to conduct a workshop there on diversity and pluralism in Bangladesh. There will be a second-leg in which experts and scholars from India are invited to ULAB to conduct a workshop at ULAB on diversity and pluralism in India.
- The Project Manager will nurture and cultivate the overseas partnership throughout the course of the project
- Recruit and onboard a Research Associate to help with day-to-day research activities.
- Oversee project operations and serve as the primary point of contact for the donor, vendors and external stakeholders.
- Ensure project activities adhere to the donor organization’s policies and regulations
- Responsible for submitting activity reports, meeting minutes, and financial and narrative reports to the donor on a predetermined basis
- Lead and inspire the project team, as well as monitor project activities and expenditures, and coordinate work with consultants on the project
- Ensures strong communication and coordination with collaborating partners to ensure that activities are carried out smoothly and that the results indicated in grant agreements are met.
Qualification Requirement
- At least five (05) years of experience in project management will be given priority, particularly in the NGO and INGO space.
- Prior experience in writing donor proposals, narrative reports, qualitative research reports, and case studies.
- Candidates will be required to network with a variety of stakeholders and use these networks to actualize the project. Prior relationships with stakeholders such as newspapers, other universities, content creators, digital marketing agencies, will be given priority.
- Experience with design and visual communication will be preferred.
- Interest and experience in topics related to diversity, pluralism and tolerance will be prioritized.
- At least an undergraduate degree from a reputed global and/or Bangladeshi university
Compensation
- BDT 75,000-100,000 per month (taxes will be deducted as appropriate)
- A dedicated laptop and a mobile phone will be provided.

Contract Specifications
This contract is from January 1 to August 31, 2023. The contract is renewable based on performance and availability of donor funds.
