SHAMERTO - Sustainable Skills and Employment in Small Scale Agro - Food Processing

Equipment Support to SMCEs

In Bangladesh the majority of the food processing units are small and rural based with very limited capacity to invest in technology. So, these small scale agro-food processors are engaged in low value adding manufacturing using unskilled and inefficient labour, outdated technology with little consideration for rules and regulations, compliance with decent work conditions, labour rights and norms, food safety standards and environmental regulations that limiting their business growth and employability. So, SHAMERTO project planned to support the targeted SMCEs to design, develop and implementation of innovative/new product/process to enhance their competitiveness and capacity and accordingly a consulting firm selected some SMCEs through a series of competition to support them with some machineries to implement their innovative ideas.
