Job Title: Country Director

The Children’s Place Bangladesh Limited is looking for a Country Director to lead the Bangladesh Office Sourcing division in realizing the Company’s sourcing strategies, AUC targets, and talent objectives, while building and managing strategic supplier relationships and vendor performance

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Strategic Initiatives        

  • Act as a Change Leader for the Global Sourcing business in leading organizational transformation
  • Actively seek opportunities to implement programs and initiatives that support the Company’s Strategic Initiatives
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance the operational excellence of the Bangladesh Sourcing office (including the Office Administration function)
  • Effectively builds, develops, and retains talent and leads according to best practices established by the organization

Sourcing Strategy Development & Execution      

  • Strategically partners with key global parties in the creation and assessment of new sourcing strategies pertaining to  Bangladesh
  • Takes both a macro and micro view of working and managing vendors
  • Proactively identifies areas of sourcing opportunities/needs based on the established vendor landscape
  • Effectively leads the team in executing necessary strategies and tactics to achieve organizational goals and business objectives

Production Management

  • Carefully monitors the production timelines of the PLC Calendar
  • Updates the Work In Progress (WIP) Report to ensure timely production
  • Proactively alerts the US and HK Sourcing teams on potential production issues and provides possible alternatives/solutions
  • Diligently conducts follow-ups with vendors/factories on bulk production
  • Takes ownership of all apparel procurement activities in line with the PLC Calendar and the Company’s standards
  • Obtains feedback from Merchandising Managers on production and vendor performance
  • Recommends any processes refinement to VP, Global Sourcing (Asia)

Costing & Vendor Management

  • Leads the negotiation process with vendors to ensure the best cost breakdowns
  • Owns the development of vendor relations and performance
  • Communicates costing/negotiation summaries to Senior Management and global partners
  • Oversees overall costing process, from flash/initial costing to final cost negotiations through final placement
  • Partners with Sourcing Strategy & Vendor Management team to enhance vendor performance

Product Technology & Quality Assurance

  • Studies apparel specifications and quality test reports to check if there are any issues with safety and quality
  • Promptly advises and/or seeks guidance from Quality Assurance team
  • Conducts factory visits (including overseas travel) to inspect apparel and fitting whenever necessary

Collaboration & Communication             

  • Connects with other Global Sourcing leaders to share information
  • Promptly escalates production issues to the VP, Global Sourcing (Asia)
  • Writes clear and effective emails to business partners and colleagues
  • Initiates/attends all business related meetings as necessary
  • Collaborate with peer group of Directors to ensure departmental alignment and consistency

Training & Support        

  • Ensures that all new hires receive proper departmental orientation and training
  • Coaches and guides team members appropriately
  • Reviews Role Descriptions/Guides with team members on a regular basis
  • Measures and documents team members’ performance
  • Completes team member performance appraisals on time
  • Attends related industry events or training
  • Supports the VP, Global Sourcing (Asia) with ad hoc projects and duties 

Essential Requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant experience in garment/textiles design, development and/or production
  • 5 years of coaching and training experience or completion of equivalent training
  • Degree or above credential in Fashion Design, Clothing/Textiles or related discipline
  • Excellent understanding of garment/textiles design and development (children apparel preferred)
  • Great understanding of Sourcing operations (including Design, Merchandising, and Raw Materials)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Great command of both verbal and written English skills
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and time management
  • Possess all Behavioral Qualities of the role as outlined above
  • Confidence in fulfilling a majority of the Key Performance Indicators for this position
  • Willing to learn and support a learning and development culture at the workplace
