Terre des Hommes Netherlands is registered as an INGO with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh Government. Bangladesh Country Office of Terre des Hommes announces its vacancy for the position of Master Trainer for the “Community-based capacity building initiatives for service providers strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights of early married girls, adolescents, and young people” project, funded by Nuffic. This project is focused to improve SRH rights and quality of relevant services for EMGs, adolescents, and young people through tailor-made training. To achieve this, the project will develop a sustainable trainer team at TDHNL and partners’ level who in turn will provide training and their best support to the community and institutions to be equipped with knowledge and skills on SRHR.
Brief Description of Community-Based Capacity Building Project on SRHR:
For early married girls (EMGs) below 18 years, adolescents (10-19) and young boys and girls (young people) (15-24), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) remains a taboo subject. As such, these groups in Bangladesh enter their reproductive years remaining poorly informed about Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) issues, without adequate knowledge and access to SRH-related information and services. This has detrimental effects on their sexual and reproductive health and well-being. Moreover, with the onset of COVID-19, currently, violence within the community and individual households have risen, and most importantly the fear of getting married off early is increasingly present. Thus, they require complete SRHR and emotional well-being, comprehensive sexual education (CSE), gender equality, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) training to enhance their capacities. Considering this fact, TdH-NL in partnership with James P Grant (JPG) School of Public Health, BRAC University (Technical partner) and Pollisree (Implementing partner) is going to implement this project in Dinajpur District (Sadar Upazila) due to weaker existing programmes and services in this district for EMGs, adolescent and young people’s SRHR . There is an urgent need for providers to have their skills strengthened so that the SRH knowledge, information and services reach out to adolescents, EMGs, young people, and vulnerable groups. Considering the problems and challenges, the project intends to increase the agency and capacity of EMGs, adolescents, and young people to address their unmet needs, and providers will be better equipped to work with them in a holistic and empathetic way.
