Context:

Tdh has been present and active in Bangladesh since 1974 and focuses its work on Migration, tackling child labour, health, child protection, WASH, Access to Justice and humanitarian aid. We are currently working in Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Ukhia, Teknaf, Kurigram and Satkhira.

Description of the position

The Project Manager reports to the Deputy Country Representative/ Head of Programme and is in charge of representing Tdh and implementing the Tdh project in its geographical zone in association with implementation Partners. S/he is responsible for project staff management, coordination with finance, logistics and human resources, implementation of activities, project development, reporting, coordination with local Government authorities, and stakeholders and ensuring security measures.

Job Context :

Tdh seeks qualified candidates for the Swiss Solidarity funded project in Daulatdia, Rajbari. Tdh is implementing a project to break the cycle of child sexual exploitation and abuse in Daulatdia brothel in Rajbari. The overall aim of the project is to protect children and adolescents in Daulatdia from commercial sexual exploitation by ensuring a safer and more supportive environment at the family, community and institutional systems level that promotes their well-being and rights.

The Project Manager will be based in Dhaka with frequent visits to the field locations.


Specific Job Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management and Oversight:
    • Provide overall oversight and management of the project, ensuring quality, effectiveness, and efficiency at all stages of the project cycle.
    • Directly supervise the project team providing technical support for the implementation of project activities.
    • Coordinate with the project implementation team to ensure timely and quality implementation of programmatic activities, including ongoing technical capacity building.
  2. Partnership Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Coordinate with implementation partners and relevant authorities at the district and community levels to enhance implementation, acceptance, and ownership of project interventions.
    • Engage with all relevant stakeholders to ensure collaboration and support for project goals and objectives.
  3. Financial management
    • Serve as the budget holder for the project, overseeing financial planning, expenditure, and reporting processes.
    • Conduct regular analysis to ensure alignment between budgeted and actual expenses, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
    • Forecast project expenditure based on ongoing needs and activities, ensuring accurate financial planning and resource allocation.
    • Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of project expenditure, adhering to financial policies and procedures.
  4. Reporting and Compliance:
    • Ensure quality reporting to donors, headquarters, and the NGOAB (Non-Governmental Organization Affairs Bureau) on project progress, achievements, challenges, and financial management.
    • Incorporate Tdh's Child Protection Fundamentals and other methodologies into all aspects of project implementation.
  5. Staff Management
    • Manage and oversee the assigned staff, including their recruitment, performance management (including mentoring and coaching, career planning, development and training, and transition, etc.).
    • Oversee day to day tasks, support staff resolve road blocks, ensure they have required resources, manage staff leave, and wellness.
    • Ensure that the newly joined staff are oriented properly on Tdh mandate, values and probation is done on a routine basis.
  6. Adherence to Policies and Standards:
    • Conduct all duties in accordance with the Tdh Global Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies, including Tdh's Child Safeguarding Policy.
    • Ensure that humanitarian principles and child protection standards are integrated into project activities to safeguard the well-being and rights of children and vulnerable populations.

Provide any other support requested by the line manager to support the project need

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in social science or relevant discipline. 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in project management
  • Experience managing child protection projects
  • Experience managing teams of 3+ staff members
  • Proven experience in working with children and other stakeholders experiencing child protection concerns

Competencies:

  • Excellent in English and Bangla speaking and writing skills.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Shows integrity and ethical values during activities.
