General job description :
Context:
Tdh has been present and active in Bangladesh since 1974 and focuses its work on Migration, tackling child labour, health, child protection, WASH, Access to Justice and humanitarian aid. We currently working in Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Ukhiya, Teknaf and Kurigram.
About Terre des hommes:
Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the Swiss leading organization focusing on child rights, based in Lausanne (Switzerland). It is active in more than 40 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh focuses its action on the following areas of intervention: Migration, Access to Justice and Health (with WASH components), with a focus onprotection of particularly vulnerable children. Modern management and communication tools ensure the quality of Tdh’s projects. The Foundation constantly aims to improve its services.
Description of the position
- The Child Protection Coordinator will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision to the Tdh’s Child Protection programming in Bangladesh and will be responsible for the overall quality implementation.
- She/he will oversee the CP Project Managers and provide guidance to the child protection staff to ensure that stated goals and objectives are met in line with the Child Protection Fundamentals of Tdh Foundation
- She/he will ensure that that the projects are appropriately monitored and evaluated, appropriately reported with timeliness and undertake a programme development approach based on the learning captured and evidences generated, in collaboration with Tdh Bangladesh MEAL department.
- She/he will ensure that child protection principles, CPMS and Tdh’s child protection policies and approaches are being incorporated into the Tdh programs in Bangladesh
- She/he will conduct his or her duties in respect of Tdh Global Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies.
- Tdh expects that its contractors’ professional conduct reflect proper behaviour in accordance with local culture and traditions. The incumbent assures the moral protection of the name of Terre des hommes and defends in all circumstances the interests of the movement.
- Tdh intervenes without any affiliation for politics, religion or financial profit. He/she will direct his or her activities and engagements without preoccupation of political, racial or religious affiliation.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning, implementation and development:
- Provide technical and management leadership to the Child Protection Programme in accordance with Child Protection fundamentals for good practices and Tdh’s policies.
- Ensure that all planned child protection activities are implemented on time, within the budget, according to quality standards and plan
- With support from the CP managers, follow quarterly, monthly and weekly activity plans to achieve expected results.
- Identifying needs and gaps in programming and proactively suggest new activities to enhance the protection activities.
- Contribute to the development of country sector strategic direction and plans.
- Lead the development of new proposals in collaboration with the Project Managers, SMT and Tdh HQ;
- Identify potential partner for new CP projects, assess capacity of existing partners, develop workplan for partnership strengthening process and execute accordingly.
2. Monitoring,Reporting and quality:
- Supervise required assessment of new situation and evaluation/review of the existing program to guarantee high quality interventions and programming in line with Child Protection Fundamentals
- Supervise the CP teams and CP managers to conduct regular monitoring and evaluation activities, and on a regular basis liaise with partners to identify gaps and challenges as well as to ensure quality impact of the CP approach.
- Work closely with the MEAL National Coordinator and the M&E staff to ensure data are collected to better report on activities and to ensure quality services for beneficiaries.
- Create a learning environment to promote good practices and support in generating evidences as part of the programme management
- Draft regular reports as per donors and partners requirements.
3. Capacity building
- Identify training needs and develop and implement a capacity building strategy.
- Support PMs in identifying, designing, facilitating trainings on CP related topics.
- Ensure continued orientation, training, coaching and mentoring to the CP Project Managers and other team members based on the project’s needs.
- Provide CP technical support to arrange training, workshop and orientation for government authorities, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
4. Coordination
- Coordinate with partners and local authorities in the target areas, in coordination with the Deputy CR in charge of Programs, as relevant for the effective and efficient implementation of the CP projects.
- Attend sectors and working groups, sub-sectors and task forces and represent Tdh in different protection platforms
- Liaise with the local authorities, in coordination with the Deputy CR in charge of Programs, to guarantee the acceptation of Tdh’s intervention and as much as possible the reinforcement of the existing CP system
- Ensure internal coordination at mission level with Tdh sectors of activity and represent CP as needed
- Arrange monthly CP team coordination meeting and prepare monthly workplan and deliverables for management.
- Advocacy and training (internal and external) on required CP related issues and thematics.
5. Resource Mobilization, programme expansion and integration
- Work together with the Child Protection team and other sectors for developing a resource mobilization strategy and follow a pathway to expand the programming
- Donor mapping and inform the resource mobilization strategy
- Develop concept notes, strategic documents based on evidences, Country context and needs to prmote the Country Strategy 2021-2024
- Formulate project proposals and support the management in retaining the existing portfolio and for further expansion of the Child Protection programme
- Promote organizational learning among actors, stakeholders and in forums and networks
- Closely work together with thematic sectors to ensure Children, families and communities are benefitting from meaningful integrated programme approach
- Support to maintain, cultivate and promote collaboration for effective donor relations and stakeholder management
6. Human resources management
- To carry out necessary recruitment when needed, in respect to the local regulations, in collaboration with the Deputy Country Representative in charge of Programs, CP Project Managers and in coordination with the Human Resource coordinator
- To provide CP Managers with ongoing staff monitoring, supervision, and support, including regular and constructive feedback and formal appraisals.
7. Tdh Global Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies
- Fully complywith Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct and systematically reports any breach to the Code through the whistleblowing procedure raises awareness within the Foundation on abuse and violence and the rights deriving therefrom, respecting the rights and dignity of children, members of the communities and our own Staff

8. Coordination and Representation:
- Represent Tdh at field coordination meetings.
9. Others
- Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the Country representative and that are compatible with the job.
- Maintain and ensure a culture of strict confidentiality - inter Tdh staff and between Tdh staff and non Tdh employees.
Job Requirements :
Education:
- Master degree in social sciences, psychology and/or any other relevant fields.
Experience:
- Master degree in social sciences, psychology and/or any other relevant fields.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in international development and humanitarian contexts.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in an international NGO, with at least 3 of these in a management capacity or similar role.
- Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of Child Protection
- Strong understanding and experiences on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (PSS), Case Management, Community based Approach, Gender and Child Participation are desirable
- Specific focus on Child Protection in Emergencies, including Sexual Gender-based Violence against children and young people, is an added value.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal coordination and writing, and donor compliance and reporting
- Prior experience working in emergency settings or insecure environments and proven ability to work as part of a diverse team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with partners, sectors, coordination bodies and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in capacity building and mentoring of national and international staff
- Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
- Excellent knowledge of English and Bengali required (spoken and written).
