Currently, SFSA Bangladesh is implementing a project titled, ‘Boosting Agriculture Risk Mitigation in Bangladesh through Climate Insurance for Small-holders’ that envisions to enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers through climate insurance. The overall project objective is to design a set of customer centric Agriculture Climate Risk Insurance (ACRI) solution for various crops and perils (e.g. rice, potato, vegetable, maize and flood etc.) that is need based and adequately designed and tailored considering the risks faced by the smallholder farmers in Bangladesh. This initiative will be backed with development of an innovative end-to-end Agri-InsurTech Cloud Platform to facilitate efficient policy administration, contract monitoring and claims management. It is a 2-years long project, co-funded by the Insuresilience Solutions Fund (ISF), managed by the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and lead by Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA).
For this project, SFSA Bangladesh is looking for a suitable candidate to fill up the position of ‘Project Officer’.

Job Summary:
Project Officer will be responsible for implementing planned field activities, maintain liaison with partners and project team in coordination with Field Coordinator.
Specific roles and responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and implement all sorts of project activities to ensure pre and commercial pilot of weather index crop insurance;
- Conduct training sessions and farmer meetings with farmers group of partner beneficiaries;
- Monitor day-to-day operations of project and its planned activities;
- Monitoring weather data to track the process of weather index insurance, and maintain automated weather stations (AWS) and river water level gauges;
- Conduct dry run, FGD, and data collection from different sources;
- Work closely with the respective staffs of partner organization, farmers and farmers group members, local government, and other stakeholders; and
- Prepare filling up project documents at regular basis.
Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible to perform any other assignment(s) given by the management of SFSA Bangladesh.
Relationships:
S/he will be reportable to the Field Coordinator and work in close coordination with other portfolio of SFSA Bangladesh.
Required qualification and competencies:
- Graduate in Agriculture/Agribusiness/Marketing or Diploma in Agriculture;
- At least 01 year of working experience in agriculture/marketing/market development projects with any renowned NGOs, companies or donor projects;
- Experienced and skilled in facilitating & dealing with partner staffs, farmers groups, and climate change adaptation aspect on various crops;
- Experienced in collecting field data and prepare project documents;
- Basic computer skills in MS Office, MS Excel and emailing;
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team; and maintain the targets and deadlines, and
- Ability and willingness to drive motorcycle and must have a valid driving license.
