Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an independent foundation by notable figures from the worlds of commerce and science in Switzerland. It is exclusively involved in international development co-operation and has carried out its own and mandated projects since 1961.

Swisscontact is currently implementing PROGRESS project that addresses skills development and environmental and social compliance needs of the RMG (Ready-Made Garments) sector. The project supports selected RMG factories in Bangladesh to skill and upskill their existing workers as well as improve the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
Swisscontact is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Officer/Senior Officer – Environmental and Social Compliance.
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and forward-thinking candidate who will support the Coordinator – Environmental & Social Compliance in the successful implementation of the project activities.

Major Tasks:
- Support Coordinator – Environmental and Social Compliance in managing partnerships with consultancy service providers, implementation partners, RMG factories, apparel brands, associations and other pertinent stakeholders.
- Engage proactively in quality assurance of the implementation.
- Assist the team in analyzing the global trends of ESG compliance relevant to the RMG industry.
- Assist in preparing project reports (monthly, bi-annually and annually), including technical reports and other reports as per project requirements.
- Provide necessary support in organizing workshops and events.
- Collaborate with others within and beyond the PROGRESS team to carry out cross-functional responsibilities effectively.
- Assist in arranging different events and workshops to disseminate project learnings as and when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Key Requirements:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline such as Economics, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or any other relevant social science subjects.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the development sector.
- Proficient in MS Excel and excellent working knowledge of computer applications of mainly M. S. Office, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently.
- Demonstrate ability to manage complexity and to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Understanding of the RMG sector would be highly valued.
- Must be willing to work in a team to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Strong analytical abilities with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in written and oral communication both in Bangla and English.
- Ability to communicate clearly with project beneficiaries and other target groups.

Physical Demands
Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
