Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an independent foundation by notable figures from the world of commerce and science in Switzerland. It is exclusively involved in international development cooperation and has carried out its own and mandated projects since 1961. In Bangladesh, Swisscontact was registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau in 2008.
Swisscontact Bangladesh has started a project aiming to create access to safe drinking water for the severe drinking water crisis-prone low-income communities. The current project will onboard a water technology provider for establishing two water enterprises in Satkhira Sadar and Shyamnagar.
Contract: Water technology provider for establishing water enterprises
Location: Satkhira Sadar and Shyamnagar
Duration: 12 Months (01 September 2022 to 30 August 2023)
The objective of the assignment
The core objective of the assignment is to facilitate the establishment of water enterprises with support from the water technology companies in the project locations. Upon establishment, the water technology providers will be responsible for the after-setup services of the established water enterprises. The technology company will play a vital role in establishing water enterprises, setting up water ATM booths, and providing comprehensive technical support.
Responsibilities
- Set up the water treatment plant with a water ATM booth while fulfilling project requirements.
- Consider multiple sources of raw water ( treatment for the water enterprises, such as rainwater, river, pond, or any other surface water, along with groundwater.
- Develop an automated monitoring mechanism (data dashboard) for capturing and displaying real-time data, including but not limited to, water dispensing volume, customer information, and aggregated data for customers.
- Develop a mobile water dispensing system integrated with the water ATM system.
- Develop a customised technical operation manual for the water entrepreneurs.
- Provide technical assistance to the water entrepreneurs and guide the entrepreneur in establishing a sustainable business model.

Required Qualification and Eligibility Criteria
- Water technology companies, WASH start-ups, or light engineering workshops that have working experience in water treatment plant setup.
- The bidder must have a minimum of 02 years of working experience in the relevant field.
- The technology provider must have prior experience in developing automated data collection and monitoring systems.
- Companies having prior experience working in the Khulna-Satkhira region are encouraged to apply.
