Title Finance Officer, Uttoron
Objective
This position deals with the accounting and financial matters of Swisscontact and Uttoron Project. The primary purpose of this position is to assure that the project and Swisscontact is running smoothly and without disruptions with respect to financial and reporting needs
Duration Initially one year (renewable)
Location Baridhara, Dhaka with field visits as required.
Reports to Coordinator- Finance, Swisscontact Bangladesh

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Finance Officer serves as a representative of Swisscontact – Bangladesh, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the organization and with the public.
Finance Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Checking & preparing cash and bank vouchers and journal entries in line with Swisscontact requirements and completion of payment procedure.
  • Cost booking in the accounting software and prepare monthly financial statement.
  • Maintaining banking/ bank transaction and bank book.
  • Maintaining daily petty cash and cash book.
  • Preparing monthly bank and cash reconciliation statement against every Bank Account and petty cash book.
  • Maintaining voucher file for bank payment/receipt, journal and others.
  • Field visit for financial monitoring as and when needed.
  • Ensuring advances are settled within prescribed time
  • Disbursing cheques to Swisscontact / Project’s vendors and partners
  • Ensure deduction of TAX & VAT at source from all kinds of Bank and Cash payments and safe keeping of the Tax and VAT Challans.
  • Assisting the Finance Coordinator in executing financial activities
  • Supporting the Finance Coordinator in preparing for group audit, external audit, and NGOAB audits and work with auditors.
  • Assist in monitoring the payment processes in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of projects’ financial transactions.
  • Performing as a team member in the procurement process
  • Maintaining integrity and confidentiality in all the financial transactions
  • Documentation of voucher, office Memo, Bank and NGOAB related paper, financial contract papers etc.
  • Preparing tax certificate for the supplier, submission of tax & vat returns to circle office.
  • Common cost allocation and monthly statement update for variance comparison.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor

Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with focus in financial management and accounting in NGO, preferably INGO.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and excellent working knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook, etc.
  • Sound understanding of internal and external audit requirements.

This will be applicable according to the Swisscontact Staff Manual.
